Review: Fairdale – Weekender Canti

May 22, 2014

Fairdale Weekender

I remember at some point growing up thinking “I’ll never ride anything but a BMX bike”… It was a pretty bold thought that I’m going to blame on being young, dumb and, at the time, not moaning and groaning from the aches and pains of years of abuse when I try and get myself out of bed in the morning.
But, like a lot of BMX riders that have climbed the ranks of age, we’re finding that our backs and knees aren’t what they used to be and sometimes you want to go for a ride, but would want something a little more comfortable. At least, that’s what had been going on in my mind for a little while now. Especially with my right knee giving me some hell. So I started looking around at some of the options that were out there.
About 7 years ago, I worked in a shop and always thought a road bike would be a good way to work out the legs and knees to help build them up for BMX, but I couldn’t imagine myself in spandex (especially now) and I didn’t think taking road bike riding seriously would be a good idea because let’s face it… If you’re on two wheels you’re going to try and jump some shit with it. I started looking at Fairdale because let’s face it… Once a BMX rider, always a BMX rider and if Taj Mihelich is the master mind behind it, it’s gotta be designed for the BMX rider at heart, right?
After weighing out the options and giving the bank account a proper investigation to decide on a budget, I found myself wanting the Weekender Canti more and more. A few weeks back I finally pulled the trigger and decided it was time and picked one up. After getting a bunch of use out of it, I thought I’d share my thoughts on the bike… Let’s take a look!

IMG_20140511_163219_600x

It’s a well known fact that Steven Moxley is an insane rider with a massive bag of tricks. What you might not know is that over the winter he was healing up from an ACL surgery that took him out for a few months! Now that his knee is starting to get back into shape and the warmer temps are making their way to Canada, he has been back on his bike and starting to get back to his old ways of absolutely CRUSHING IT! It’s been a while since we’ve caught up with Steven, so we figured it would be a good time to take a look at his current Stolen setup and find out what’s new in his life! Let’s take a look!

Photogallery: Puerto Rico Vacation with Mark Mulville

May 20, 2014

photo 2

Being a professional BMX rider generally means you travel a lot. The only downside to that is when you’re on a trip, you’re usually on a tight schedule, sticking to a budget, hitting as many street spots, parks, trails and shops as you and the team can so you can have a video or something come from the trip. That pressure leads to you missing out on a lot of things when you visit somewhere. Mark Mulville is one dude who is no stranger to trips and putting his passport to good use. The other week he took a trip, but it wasn’t for anything other than enjoyment to Puerto Rico to ride some spots, catch some waves and explore what the place had to offer. We had him snap a bunch of photos from his trip so we could see what he got into during his stay! Mark came back with this rad photogallery for us to check out!

“Sometimes we need all need a vacation! A time to escape, relax, drink, explore and do whatever you feel like doing on a NON-BMX schedule. But as a BMXer I still can’t go anywhere without my bike…
So on a recent vacation trip to Puerto Rico with my girlfriend Courters, we did all of the above listed vacation activities… But I also found time to ride my bike.
Here are a bunch of photos taken by myself, Courters and Carlos Santori showing some of the highlights from this (NON) BMX trip.
