It has been a bit since we’ve caught a The BMX In Our Blood Podcast, but it looks like Joe Doherty is back on it after a little break! This time around he sat down with Ed Pollio from 5050 Skatepark to get his story from how the park came to be, what it takes to keep the doors open, the future and more. Ed has a great story and puts in a ton of work, so this is definitely a podcast worth listening to! Hit play and enjoy!
“Angelica and Ed Pollio are pretty amazing. Something about New Yorkers, their determination and passion against the increasingly difficult hoops they need to jump through is nothing short of amazing. The 5050 Skatepark in Staten Island is as unique as each of the five NYC boroughs. Every passion project floors me and grabs my attention. Maybe because I thought I have had a few challenging BMX passion projects in my BMX life but I don’t think they come close to the hurdles Angelica and Ed have persisted through. I often talk about the NY hustle when interviewing New Yorkers, it is real! Anyhow, please give this story a listen and apply it to your strategy if you are embarking on a journey to give back to your community. 5050 can always use donations to keep their dream alive so look them up and do what you can. Help make sure this resource doesn’t go away!
Special thank you to Bryan Close of Brooklyn for being a guest for this podcast. Nothing better than having a New Yorker join in and be part of the podcast. Thank you Angelica and Ed for being amazing people that know what giving back is all about while making a difference in the lives of so many through the park.
