Did you know Alex Raban was getting a set of signature bars from Volume? I didn’t… But they dropped today! The Iron Chachi bars are made from 13-butted heat-treated 4130 chromoly and feature a rise of 8.3″, width of 29″, 12-degrees of backsweep, 2-degrees of upsweep, a crossbar height of 6.2″ and a crossbar width of 10.4″. These bars feature thicker butting on all of the stress points to increase the overall strength throughout. The Iron Chachi bars weigh in at 29.4 oz. and come in chrome and flat black. You can find out more about these bars right here.

Through The Lens: Company Check – Volume and Demolition
When a BMX company has been around for fourteen years you have to figure that they are doing something right. That was my exact thought when planning the next company to feature for the column and that is why I chose Volume and Demolition. Also because Brian Castillo is a dedicated, hard-working person who constantly pushes BMX in a positive direction. He multi-tasks like no other and still finds time in his day to shred. He rides BMX simply because he loves it, and helped take a dream and make it a reality which is something most people will never do. It takes an incredible amount of drive to run multiple BMX companies for over a decade but he handles it with a small crew working alongside. I made my way down to the offices recently to hang out for the day, shoot some photos and talk to Castillo about what it takes to make it all happen.
Volume Bikes – Drew Hosselton & Eric Bahlman Split Edit
Volume Bikes: Drew Hosselton & Eric Bahlman Split Edit. from 180 Distribution on Vimeo.
There is so much good to say about this edit, I don’t know where to start. Volume did a great job at writing a caption, so I’m going to let them take it away:
“Self proclaimed cowboy Drew Hoss and Eric Bahlman teamed up with local skate filmer Bill Brown over the past couple months in Arizona and produced what’s safe to say is going to be a timeless web video. This edit is the perfect blend of style, progressive riding, and excellent spot use….with an underlying best buds vibe and smiles throughout. There’s so much shit in here that will wow you even after the second or third watch. Shoutout to you two for killing it so hard and Bill for doing an excellent job behind the lens….Well what are you waiting for…check it out!”
Through The Lens: Making Moves with Broc Raiford
What would you do to follow your dreams? Would you wake up one morning and plan a move across the country? Would you leave home in hopes of pursuing a career doing what you love? Well, regardless of what you may or may not do, while you are still sitting there thinking about it there are people out there like Broc Raiford making moves. I’ve been doing this whole thing long enough now to where I have seen riders go from young up-and-comers just trying to make a name for themselves to some of the top pros in the game. Broc is on his way to fitting himself into that category. His bike control is blatantly obvious when he rides and he has the type of personality that will take him far. He recently made the move out West to California in hopes of pushing his BMX riding to a new level and I have absolutely no doubt that being here will do just that. He knows what he wants out of life, has the work ethic that it takes to be successful and did I mention that he kills it on a bike? Get familiar with Broc, find out about the move, and see what he has planned for the rest of the year and more right here.
Volume – Alex Platt Welcome Edit
Holy crap… Talk about serious hammers. Alex Platt’s welcome to Volume Bikes is soooo damn good. Check it!
“Many bumps, bruises, and flesh wounds later, we’d like to now officially welcome Mr. Platt to the team in style with one hell of an edit to start your week! Alex is easily the craziest person I know on two wheels, and his brain is constantly stirring the pot, (literally) plotting and scheming to get back at the word “impossible.” Alex never ceases to amaze me with the shit he comes up with, and his riding is guaranteed to keep you on your toes from both technical and burly perspectives alike. Ladies and gentelmen, Alex Platt…
