November 4, 2016

It looks like there will be a change in where BMX shops are getting their supply of Eclat, Salt, Salt Plus and Fuse Protection products in the U.K. Some of the brands under the WeMakeThings blanket have made the move over to Snap Distribution. However, you will still find Wethepeople still being taken care of by Cycling Sports Group for UK Distribution. Get the full press-release below.

“OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM WE MAKE THINGS Gmbh:

As of November 1st 2016, we have moved our UK distribution operations of our BMX brands Éclat, Fuse Protection, and Salt / SaltPlus from Cycling Sports Group UK to Snap Distribution.

We would like to thank Cycling Sports Group UK for everything it has done to grow and cultivate Éclat, Fuse Protection and Salt / SaltPlus for many years in the United Kingdom. At a time when CSG are applying more focus on its complete bike brands like WETHEPEOPLE we feel that moving P&A brands like Éclat and Salt / SaltPlus to Snap will help expand our growth with a more distinct and direct way. All parties have dealt with this move in a mutual agreement and we look forward to working hard in the future with both Snap Distribution and Cycling Sports Group UK.

Harry Schmid CEO of We Make Things Gmbh said “We are really excited to end 2016 and move into 2017 with a brand new U.K distributor for Éclat, Fuse & Salt / SaltPlus but not without mentioning the hard work of Cycling Sports Group UK who have helped build these brands into what they are today in the U.K”.

All our Éclat, Fuse Protection, and Salt / SaltPlus products are now available through Snap Distribution.

Looking to get involved with the BMX industry in the product design side of things? Well, here’s your chance to get involved with Wemakethings (the parent company of Wethepeople, Eclat, Almond Footwear, Salt & More) who are looking for a product design intern! Get the full details below!

“PRODUCT DESIGN INTERN (F/M)

Position for Product Design Intern at We Make Things, Cologne, Germany

Our company is one of the leaders in the BMX industry with involvement extending over 15 years. The core of the business is still based around BMX bicycles, this includes complete bikes and high-end aftermarket components that are sold around the world.

We’re looking for a student who’s excited and motivated in bringing carefully considered and technically brilliant products to reality. Being a small company you will be getting stuck in from the word go, so no tea making here. We will be looking for you to get up to speed quickly with the workflow and then get stuck in with some projects, working alongside other designers to bring products into production. The projects are varied with us owning many brands that have organically grown from BMX, all requiring product design and management. These brands include fixed gear bikes and parts, footwear, clothing/accessories and impact protection all of which is designed here in Cologne.

Above all we’re looking for someone who possesses true creative thinking, and has a passion for technology and progressive design. You must have a critical eye for detail, and a natural feeling for what ‘looks good’. Although not crucial to the role, a keen interest in BMX/Cycling and the action sports sector is definitely a bonus. With so many brands and products the workflow is varied and fast, so you need to be able to flick between tasks easily. You will work in a close team of graphic and product designers so a friendly and open personality is a must.

Industry: Paul Robinson

November 1, 2013

One of the biggest and most important parts of keeping up with BMX and running this site is communication. There are a lot of people involved in BMX that are good to keep up with, especially the guys who are making things happen. Over the past two or so years, one guy who I have always stayed in contact with is Paul Robinson. Paul’s name might look familiar because he’s been a huge driving force behind a lot of the projects you have seen between Wethepeople, Eclat and Almond. I mean, who do you think has been in charge of getting the Eclat team all around the world lately? Between all of his different roles he handles on a day-to-day between all of the brands, Paul is also a really talented photographer, which he will never admit to. I figured if you wanted to get a better understanding of just what it’s like to work in the industry, I think his job would be one that’s good to look at to understand that you need to be on your stuff and versatile enough to handle anything that comes your way. Let’s get to know this guy a little better…
