Vans at X Games 2012

July 10, 2012

To say the Vans team had a productive weekend at the X-Games, would probably be an understatement. Check out Scotty Cranmer, Chase Hawk, Bruno Hoffmann, Gary Young, Coco Zurita, Kyle Baldock, Sean Sexton, Dakota Roche, Pat Casey Dennis McCoy and Simon Tabron all throwing down.

We also see the likes of Garrett Reynolds, Chad Kerley, Daniel Dhers, and more taking their competition skills to the X Games setups. V-X Games Los Angeles

July 5, 2012

Here’s a slightly different look on the X-Games courtesy of Miles Rogoish and his VX.

“ During BMX Street at X Games Los Angeles last week, Miles Rogoish decided to capture the action on his trusty old VX camera, along with some behind the scenes shenanigans. In case you missed out on watching street at X Games Los Angeles, this video highlights each invited rider from start to finish. Footage includes riding Stevie Churchill, Simone Barraco, Alex Kennedy, Jeremiah Smith, Sean Sexton, Rob Wise, Bruno Hoffmann, Dakota Roche, Chad Kerley and five-time X Games gold medalist Garrett Reynolds. There are minimal fist bumps, and maximum toothpick hangovers to 180 in this video.” – ESPN

Through The Lens – The Process: Photographing the X-Games

July 4, 2012

2012 marks the sixth year in a row that I have shot the X Games in downtown Los Angeles. It is crazy to think of all of the wild stuff that I have seen go down first hand since 2007 and I feel very fortunate to have witnessed a ton of BMX history occur right before my eyes. The only bad thing is that when it comes time to shoot X Games it’s always pretty stressful between the long days, crazy security guards and constant challenge of trying to capture everything that happens between the four events. I took somewhat of a different approach to the way I shot at X Games this year and really just tried to take in the contest for what it was worth, enjoy the show and get some behind the scenes shots along the way. Hit the link to see some of what caught my eye over the course of three days and take a look through my lens.

BMX X-Games

The X Games have been in Los Angeles since 2003 and with good reason. It’s a great city to host a contest of that size and you can pretty much count on perfect weather every single year. I don’t think it has ever rained at the X Games since I have been shooting them.
