I’ve said it more than once; trails riders are definitely a unique breed. In this case, we’re getting a look at Proper‘s U.K trails shredder, Dan Figg’s Trawlerman setup. The setup is definitely a real sturdy looking unit and it’s probably one of the few bike check’s you will still see with 48 spoke wheels. While we were at it, we tossed Dan some extra questions to let you get to know him a little better. Let’s check out his bike and see what he had to say!

After a few months of being on Mutant Bikes, word slipped out that Daniel “Naran” Penafiel had a signature frame and bars in the works. If you haven’t noticed, the guys at Mutant are always doing some unique things with their products, so this definitely caught my attention. Daniel has been testing prototypes of the frame, bars and a few other items so we figured it would be a perfect time to take a closer look at his setup and find out what we can expect from the Tizona line that’s due out early next year. There’s no doubt that Dirt Ron is what we like to call “unique”. Ron is the kind of guy who doesn’t follow the typical scheme of setup or riding that you can find popping up online most days. I mean, how many people do you see running only a front brake and do candy bars more than actual barspins? Being different isn’t bad, in fact, that’s what I love about the guy! I’ve never experienced a bad moment being in his presence and I’m sure there’s a lot of other people who can say the same.
Back in March we were given the privilege to announce that Ron had been added to the Bone Deth team, which was more than a perfect fit for him. It seems like everyday I am exposed to a new rider in some far away country that absolutely kills it on a bike. It’s crazy to think how BMX has grown to pretty much everywhere in the world. Vasya Lukyanenko is one of those riders from a city in the Ukraine that I can’t even pronounce. However, because of BMX, I get stoked whenever I see his name turn up in a new video.
