The other day, our friend Kris Kim hit us up talking about how the Strangeways Vol. 2 DVD didn’t quite get the attention he felt it deserved. After picking up a copy and watching it over and over again, he decided maybe it would be cool to put together a review so more people can find out just how good the video really is. We gave Kris the chance to put his thoughts together and he came through with a real solid review that I think might make you think twice about this video from the U.K that you might not have seen yet. Let’s see what he had to say…
Evolutions: BMX Seats and Posts
After we dropped that Evolutions of the Seat Post Clamp post the other week, we heard a lot of really positive feedback from people that were just psyched to see all the changes and be reminded of their past. We also got a pretty good discussion going on BIKEGUIDE that lead to us talking about other parts that would be cool to look back on.
I kept thinking about all the changes we have seen and I think one of the easiest (well, they’re all pretty easy to see) things to see a huge change in are the seats and posts on our bikes. Not only because of the different technology, but also just how trends have affected the way BMX seats have been designed over the years.
Before I get into this, I want to say this is NOT supposed to be an exact history and more or less a nostalgic look at the past and how far we’ve come (or stepped back) over the past 10 years or so. Alright, let’s do this!

You know the week went by too fast when you woke up on Saturday thinking it was Thursday, haha. The good part about it actually being Saturday is it’s time for another round of Products:! This week we have 5 dialed products (as always) for you to get a look at that you might just need or want or realize you just might need or want it if you didn’t know already! This week we’ll take a closer look at Stefan Lantschner’s signature MontaƱa frame from Fly Bikes, the Century High (weird… That was my high school) bars from The Daily Grind, the Helm Spline Drive sprocket from Madera, the High Life Up Load stem from Subrosa, then we’ll wrap things up with the 2015 Tony Hamlin signature Whip complete from Kink! Ready!? Let’s do this!
Out of Focus – Kuala Lumpur
Aaron Nardi is one of those guys in BMX that is lucky enough to travel all over the world filming and taking photos for different projects. During a lot of those trips, there ends up being a lot of extra footage and photos that go unseen! Instead of letting it all go to waste, we figured it would be rad to drop those extras online for you guys to check out! For the first round of Out of Focus, Aaron had a TON of photos leftover from the trip to Kuala Lumpur that he took with Todd Lyons for a video for ESPN BMX that you can check out after the jump! After you watch the video, check out a few select photos along with the stories that go with them below, then check out a FULL PHOTOGALLERY filled with even more photos!

The Evolutions of the Seat Post Clamp
One thing that I’ve personally found pretty entertaining lately is Googling old BMX parts that were once all the rage or just something unique that was once around but has been long since discontinued. The other day for one reason or another I decided to look up the old Primo Viking clamp to laugh at the beast of a clamp with two bolts and enough metal to make 3 or 4 clamps that would keep your post in place with ease. When I did that, I started thinking about all of the different versions of seat post clamps and all of the different places we have found them over the last 10 years or so. Once I started looking things up, I started remembering a bunch of different styles that I had forgotten about. I decided it would be pretty cool to put all of them together for a little trip down memory lane… Let’s take a look!
