Yesterday during the GT Bicycles 2017 complete bikes product launch at 5050 Skatepark, the rain started coming down heavy! There was a kicker out front of the park and Jason Phelan had mentioned he wanted to backflip it… We were thinking he meant once the rain stopped initially, but he really meant BEFORE the rain stopped. So, we quickly grabbed the camera and an umbrella, ran out onto the street and Jason sent it. Despite it pouring rain, the ramp being a little sketchy and cars not stopping for him, he managed to send two of them before the throttle grip kicked in. We’re still not quite sure how he did this, but it’s absolutely amazing.

Salute to the 4th BMX Contest Highlights
Here’s a highlight reel from this years Salute to the 4th BMX Contest at Silverlake Skatepark in Rochester, Minnesota. This event was apart of a bigger 4th of July celebration that had fireworks, a car and motorcycle show, live music, food trucks and a skateboard contest, but this is just highlights from the BMX portion. This video kicks things off with the beginners, followed by intermediate, expert and a few clips from the Subrosa Street Rail Jam. Unfortunately the skate contest ran way longer than expected, so the rail jam got off to a start late while they were still wrapping up the skate contest. Either way, it was a real good time and everyone from the riders to the people who just stopped by to check out the show seemed to enjoy it. Plus, this event and the skate contest helped raise funds for the Keep Pushing Forward Skatepark Foundation that is working to do a massive expansion of the park.

UK natives Alex Coleborn and Ryan Taylor, widely seen as two of the top park riders in the world, grabbed fourth and fifth place respectively, while Arizona, USA’s Kevin Peraza rounded out the final list of athletes advancing from pre-qualifiers. BMX Best Tricks
In BMX Best Tricks, Andy Buckworth and Brian Fox qualified in this event in addition to their spots on the BMX Triple Hit list, taking first and sixth place, respectively. Joining them, in a stunning development, is Nitro Circus Live all-around star Gavin Godfrey. Determined to push his skills and compete against the best in the world, Godfrey jumped at the chance to compete for a spot and astonishingly leaped into second place at the pre-qualifying event. Up-and-comers Dominic Kirkham and Alex Landeros then took third and fourth place. Brandon Schmidt is another athlete stepping up and making waves outside of his regular discipline. A snowboarder and contraptions specialist on the Nitro Circus Live tour, Schmidt shocked onlookers by placing in the top five. Three more athletes have also been added to Best Tricks as wildcard selections: Seven-time X Games medalist Vince Byron, the world’s first triple and quadruple backflipper Jed “The Warrior” Mildon, and Andrew “Mini” Ahumada, who recently battled against Ryan Williams in attempt to land the massive first BMX triple frontflip, will all compete in the July 15 Nitro World Games final qualifying event.
The 19 final qualifiers in both BMX Triple Hit and in BMX Best Tricks will clash at Rice-Eccles Stadium on July 15 – the day before the inaugural Nitro World Games. Only the eight highest scoring riders in each event will advance. See below for the full list of athletes advancing to the BMX Triple Hit and BMX Best Tricks final qualifiers.

Chad Curtis – Outdated
Chad Curtis coming through with a new video that’s filled with clips from his glitchy, outdated and now dead VX camera that he had been using for quite some time. The footage might be rough around the edges and Chad’s style of riding might be a little “out of date” compared to what some riders are doing these days, but we’re stoked on every second of this. Hit play to watch Chad go to work on street spots, skateparks and trails where he throws down plenty of spins, grind combos, X-Ups and more! This is one BMX video that doesn’t disappoint!
Song: Limozeen – Because It’s Midnite
Filmed by Jamie Carnall, Demitrius Thompson, Bronson Lee, Jesse Sisco, and Chad’s tripod.

Inside Profile Racing – A Tour with Matt Coplon
When it comes to BMX parts and products, traditionally the person buying the product only gets to see the product either in the shop they bought it from or a few photos online before making the purchase and seeing it turn up a few days later in a box. Only few ever really see where the product actually was made and came from before getting to that stage.
There are only a handful of brands that can say they produce their products in-house in BMX or, really, in the entire bicycle industry, and it goes without saying that it’s an interesting process to see.
We made a trip to the Profile Racing warehouse in St. Petersburg, Florida to catch a tour of the warehouse with Matt Coplon to see just where the hubs, cranks, sprockets, stems and a number of other products are produced for Profile and Madera. Between the freestyle BMX, BMX racing, mountain bike and even car parts they produce, there’s quite a bit to see from the stock to the crazy machines they use to produce everything from a piece of metal into a precision product.
Hit play, kick back and take the tour! Big thanks to Matt Coplon and Profile Racing for letting us come through!

The Daily Grind In North Carolina
The Daily Grind crew are no strangers to road trips in search of street spots. Over the past few years they have hit up spots all over the East and West Coasts and plenty in between. They recently decided to load up and head East to North Carolina to see just what the state had to offer for street spots. Although North Carolina is primarily known for Greenville in the BMX world, it’s safe to say this place has some amazing street spots, too. Check out 9 minutes of heavy footage from Zack Gerber, Dan Conway, Troy Merkle, Tony Cherry, Scott Steele, Jon “Gremlin” Bechtold, Mike Vitatoe and Grant Ueberroth who put in some serious work during their visit.
