2018 Vans BMX Pro Cup Pros Announced

Vans have announced the list of Pro’s that will be going on the world tour for the 2018 Vans BMX Pro Cup! Here’s the official press release below. This year it looks like we’ll see a full line up from the ladies and no shortage of familiar faces on the guys side! Expect to see plenty of wild riding as things kick off in Australia on April 27th!

“Vans BMX Pro Cup, the world’s leading platform for elite BMX park terrain competition, enters its second season announcing the pre-seeded World Championship Tour invitees for the 2018 Pro Tour series commencement in Sydney, Australia on April 27 – 28.

The 2018 Vans BMX Pro Cup Tour Pros are selected from the top 10 riders from the 2017 Vans BMX Pro Cup point standings. The Tour Pros are pre-seeded directly into the semi-finals at every Pro Tour event, and are also pre-qualified for the 2018 series World Championship finals. The Tour Pro roster will expand throughout the season with the addition of the top three podium winners from each regional qualifier, who will advance to the Vans BMX Pro Cup Pro Tour, and also secure their invite to the Vans BMX Pro Cup World Championships.

The following pre-qualified Tour Pros, including 2017’s Vans BMX Pro Cup World Champion Larry Edgar, will meet 20 stop invitees, top 3 podium winners from the Chile regional qualifier, and 7 Australia regional qualifier advancers for a complete roster of 40 elite BMX riders, to kick off the series’ first Vans BMX Pro Cup showdown of the year on Saturday, April 28.

When you watch all the videos from the pros, riding BMX looks super easy to do. It turns out, when you’re first learning to ride it’s pretty tricky and can be almost frustrating to learn new tricks if you don’t have some of the basics figured out. Dustin Lee put together a video showing the Top 10 BMX tricks for beginners that he thinks are important to learn from the bunnyhop and the manual to no footers, one handers, x-ups, feeble grinds and more. Take a look and then grab your bike and start building the trick list up.

Chris Doyle Discusses Going Into Cardiac Arrest

Chris Doyle fills us in on what happened last Thursday in New Mexico…

On Monday we found on that Chris Doyle was hospitalized last Thursday in New Mexico from a message Kink sent out, but we didn’t really get much detail as to what happened. It turns out that Chris went into cardiac arrest and nearly died! Fortunately Calvin Kosovich performed CPR until paramedics came and Chris is still here with us today. We figured it would be a little while until we heard from Chris, but he dropped a message online explaining what happened and his condition that he has… So stoked Chris made it out of this one!

“Okay, so as most have heard by now, I had a very bad accident recently while riding… well, after riding. I was out riding with the Kink crew and shortly after the session, as we were loading up the van, I went into cardiac arrest. My friends most definitely saved my life. Jay and Nathan both called 911, Chad and Darryl ran to the nearest hospital while Matt rode his bike there. When that nearest hospital didn’t help, they came back to find Calvin Kosovich administering CPR.
What I am suffering from is called HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). Click on the link at the bottom for more information.

I would highly suggest to everybody out there to take a CPR class because it definitely saved my life and it could save you or somebody you love.

Currently, I am at the University of New Mexico Hospital where I am receiving the utmost care. From here on out,I will be wearing a device called ICD to prevent this from happening again. Check out the other link below.
