5050 BMX – Jonesy and Kurt Go Down Under!

When the winter gets to be too much, sometimes you gotta hop a plane and head south! Here’s a video 5050 BMX dropped from Jonesy Fedderson and Kurt Perkins trip down to Australia where they enjoyed sunshine, skateparks and trails! Odyssey BMX – Calibur 3-Piece Cranks

Is it time for a new set of BMX cranks? The new Calibur Cranks from Odyssey are starting to land at BMX shops and mail-orders. The Calibur cranks are a traditional style 3-piece crankset for those of you who don’t prefer Odyssey’s Thunderbolt style 2-piece cranks. You can find heat-treated chromoly tubular arms and a 22mm, 48-spline, hollow chromoly spindle with 6mm bolts to keep it all tight. These cranks feature sprocket bosses on both arms, so they are left and right side compatible. These also come with a 22mm, MID bottom bracket, so you don’t have to buy one of those separately.

The Calibur Cranks from Odyssey BMX are available in black and chrome, lengths of 165mm, 170mm and 175mm with a price tag starting at $149.99 – $159.99 based on color.

Do note that these cranks are heat-treated, but they are not covered by Odyssey’s 41 Thermal lifetime warranty they offer on some of their products. Either way, these look like a sturdy set of cranks for a great price. The Calibur cranks available through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Odyssey BMX worldwide now.

In a world where BMX bikes have been simplified A LOT since their inception and constant innovation, there are plenty of things an average person can do to work on and maintain a BMX bike. Unfortunately, sometimes things are a little more complicated than they might seem. The guys over at The Merged have noticed plenty of How To videos explaining just how to install a set of BMX cranks, but they seem to always breeze on by the installation of a bottom bracket. With the vast majority of BMX frames taking the press it Mid bottom brackets these days, they decided it was time for a How To explaining the fine details of installing these bearings that keep your cranks spinning. Although it might seem as simple as “bash the shit out of the bearings until they are in place”, there are a few details you might not know are important to the process. BMX Theory – More Pegdal Testing

The other day we posted up a video Kyle Mileski put together showing you how he made the PEGDAL which combines a pedal and a peg, all in one. After the video came out, it got a lot of attention and people calling out that it doesn’t work better than plastic pedals, or that he should just install one of those flat grind plates that people made back in the day. Kyle decided to do some scientific testing to see just how the Pegdal compared to plastic and metal pedals when it came to Luc-E grinds. Here’s an in-depth analysis that shows you all the proof you need that the Pegdal is far superior than any other option… This is serious business.

Sneak Peek: Merritt BMX – Tiffany Blue Colorway

Here’s a little sneak peek action for you. Merritt posted up this photo giving us a look at some of their new Tiffany Blue parts that will be available the summer. This color will be available on their tires, grips and pedals, so you’ll be able to give some rad accent color to your bike if you chose to do the whole kit. We’ll keep you posted when these parts become available!
