Albert Mercado BMX

What can I say about Albert that you probably don’t know already? I don’t really know, but I do know that he’s one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and he’s always producing something amazing with his riding. At the start of the year he got the VERY WELL DESERVED bump up to the Kink and Shadow Conspiracy Pro teams after putting in years of hard work that earned him the spots! We figured with Albert joining the pro ranks and coming off a thumb injury that it would be a good time to catch up and find out what’s new with one of our favorite San Dieagons! Check it!

Although Shane isn’t usually a man of very many words with his riding doing all the talking that is necessary…. We figured between his banger of a promo for his signature Isla line from Fly Bikes, word that his anticipated signature Blind freecoaster from Eclat is FINALLY getting close to being released and the NBA playoffs in full heat that it was a good time to catch up with him to see what’s new in his life. Let’s check out what he had to say!

If you pay close attention to the credit lines for videos, there’s a good chance you will start recognizing names of guys who are producing some incredible videos. It’s a little tip I picked up on when it came to sorting through the endless sea of videos we see surfacing 365 days of the year now days. One name in particular that we always get stoked to see pop up is Dylan Pfohl. Dylan is one of those guys who learned a lot of his film techniques from BMX and has used it to push him into a professional career handling film projects all around the action sports industry. We wanted to know about his work and how he got to where he is today, so we tracked him down for an interview. Check out what he had to say!

If there’s one person who I’m always stoked to see something new from, it’s Ruben Alcantara. Between his riding and everything else he does, like the work he has been doing designing skateparks lately, it’s always something awesome.
We were lucky enough to catch up with him the other day to find out what is new in his life and find out what he has cooking up here in the near future. It sounds like we can expect a full video part, more riding and plenty of amazing parks popping up. Let’s take a look and see what he had to say!

Chris Silva and the Animal Axle Nuts

April 17, 2014

Coming up with this intro is a little tricky… Chris Silva is a Canandian BMX legend regardless if he wants to believe it or not. Over the years, Chris has destroyed A LOT of rails all over with and without the help of his pegs. Although grinding without pegs seems damn near impossible, he does it.
Some of you older riders out there will remember the classic Primo “Jewel” axle nuts that were essentially axle nuts that were rounded off to work more like pegs back in the day. Thanks to this little invention, it helped and inspired Chris to push the limits of his grinding abilities and helped make him into that legend we were talking about above that he is today.
A few months back when I was talking with Chris, he had mentioned that he was working on something with Animal Bikes that he was really psyched on. After bugging him a bit, he let the cat out of the bag that they were developing a newer, better, Chris Silva signature version of the Jewel axle nuts that would be coming out this summer.
There was no way we couldn’t find out more, so we got Chris to talk about these axle nuts (don’t call them a peg!) and the history of what lead to today. Let’s see what he had to say!

Nick Bullen Interview

Nick Bullen BMX

There has been a ton of amazing riders that have been coming out of Michigan lately! If you haven’t taken notice, the scene over there has been on absolute fire lately and all the proof you need is in the “The Michigan Video”. One guy who we’ve been seeing more and more of over the past year or two is Nick Bullen. Nick has always been good, but it seems like he’s always flown pretty under the radar… Until recently.
With the ender part in the video and a recent bump up to the Subrosa pro team, Nick is finally getting that well deserved shine time he’s been working his ass off for.
We figured with the recent bump up and everything he has going on, it was more than a perfect time to get to know him a little better. Let’s see what he had to say…

Traveling With Jay Roe

If there’s one thing that everyone that rides BMX needs to do at some point… It is to use it as an excuse to go somewhere. Traveling is one of the best parts about BMX with the endless possibilities of spots, parks, people to meet and places to see. It really doesn’t take much to find a reason to hop in a car with a few friends and mark a spot on the map and just go.
One person in particular who knows this is Kink‘s team manager, Jay Roe. Over the past few years he’s travelled with the team all over the world from the countless trips around the U.S.A to Canada, the U.K, Australia, China, Russia and more.
We figured with the summer coming up for most of us in the northern hemisphere, we would catch up with Jay and talk about what it’s like to constantly be on the go, with a full team to look after, and find out some of the things he has learned along the way. Let’s take a peek!

Down Time with Jeff Klugiewicz

April 4, 2014

Anyone that follows Jeff K on Instagram or Snap Chat probably has a pretty good idea that he has been off his bike for a couple months due to having wrist surgery. BMX is something that comes with a lot of risk and the injuries are inevitable.
So After 2 surgeries, a lot of cold weather and some time on his hands, Jeff has picked up some new interests to help him pass his time off his bike. We got pretty curious as to just what he was getting into with all of the down time he has, so we got ahold of him to find out what’s new and see some of his latest projects! Let’s take a look!
