Space Brothers Podcast – Brian Fox

March 7, 2019

The constant stream of podcasts continues! The Space Brothers Podcast dropped their latest episode where they sit down with Brian Fox to talk about everything from how he got into BMX, his days racing, what made him want to switch over to freestyle, riding big contests like the X Games and more. Brian has been blowing up on the contest scene the past few years doing a ton of wild tricks on his bike. If you want to get to know him a little better, here’s the podcast for you!

“From a competition standpoint It seems like each year we hear about another amazing rider who comes out of seemingly nowhere to become one of the biggest names in the sport. There’s so many incredible riders bursting onto the scene these days. It’s hard to keep track of them all.

One of those riders is Brian Fox. After qualifying in 1st place at last years X Games dirt competition Brian was able to put together a perfect run and ended up with a bronze medal in the finals. Kind of crazy considering he’s spent the majority of his life in Florida where there’s mostly sand. Brian’s not just a dirt jumper, he also competes in BMX park, and rides a lot of concrete bowls and skateparks. It’s safe to say he’s a threat to win any contest he enters!

Even though you might not recognize Brian’s name as well as some of the other competitors, he didn’t come out of nowhere. He’s been around for a little while. I first met Brian while doing a BMX show with Rob Nolli 5 years ago. It was obvious right away Brian had serious skills and pulled off everything he tried. He had an explosive style yet made everything look easy. Since it was a show I only got to see a small sample of what Brian could really do.

A few months later I saw a video of him riding and I was blown away! Brian has that rare combination of skill and power added to today’s most popular video game level tricks and he’s always working on something new!

We sat down with Brian at the Master Blaster Planet Studios and asked him about riding dirt in Florida, his early racing career, the first time he saw freestyle, his secrets to putting together a high scoring run at a major contest, landing his first 1080, riding in Mike Spinner’s backyard, learning from his dad who rode bmx in the 80s, riding for his new sponsor Radio Bikes including his new signature frame, and finding out what his dream contest run would be.

So get comfortable, crank up your speakers, and get to know one of the up and coming heavy hitters in BMX comps for years to come… Brian Fox!”

Flo Ehrl In The Streets of Munich

March 7, 2019

The crew at Freedom BMX coming through with a fresh batch of clips featuring Flo Ehrl going to work on street spots in Munich! Flo isn’t scared to put his pegs to work or send it down a set of stairs, making for a real solid video! Take a look!

“Not so long ago, Munich was still relatively undeveloped. This has since changed, because a new generation of young street drivers is busy exploring the streets of the Bavarian capital. Flo Ehrl is one of those guys who is not without good reason supported by the 360 degree sports shop and Stylemystuff®. Flo is not only a nice guy, but also has a lot of wheel control, which has earned him the nickname Railridegott in the internal editorial – not to mention his cojones. Here’s a glimpse of interesting clips that he staked last summer in Minga, Dachau and Landshut. Flo goes off, so check it out, Oida!

Dirt Bros. – Manuel De La Cruz “Cheese” Section (1994)

March 7, 2019

Snakebite BMX uploaded another gem from the Dirt Bros. “Cheese” video that came out way back in 1994! This time around we get a look at Manuel De La Cruz‘s section that has a mix of street, park and trails footage. I didn’t personally know much about this guy until I saw the section and got the full scoop from the text that came with the video, and it’s pretty awesome. Manuel was definitely ahead of his time and was definitely crushing it. Check out this video and get psyched!

“Underground San Diego shredder, Manuel De La Cruz, earned national notoriety for being the first documented rider to grind down a legit handrail without brakes and without wearing any pads. At the time, most riders were still used to seeing the pros wear a full face helmet or at least full pads to double-peg a rail. So, when Manuel started bombing huge handrails with out safety gear, it was pretty shocking. While he may have been known for hitting big rails, Manuel also got down on ramps, dirt, and had some impressive flatland moves. I’ve gotten to hang out with Manuel a few times since I moved to San Diego, and have always found him to be a generous, humble, and likeable guy who is still really stoked on BMX. Using “Egypt, Egypt” from the 1984 album On the Nile by Egyptian Lover was a stroke of genius, and helped make Manuel’s section one of the more memorable ones from Cheese. Enjoy!!

Everything You Need To Know About BMX – Part 1

March 6, 2019

Here’s an interesting video Red Bull just dropped called the ABC’s of BMX where they discuss everything you need to know about BMX. This features footage from the team, along with some behind the scenes footage from training and riding sessions. The video is narrated by Sebastian Keep, which definitely makes this better. In this first part, the video covers everything from injuries to the lifestyle and traveling. It’s pretty basic, but it’s clear this series is more geared toward people that don’t ride BMX to help explain it a bit. Either way, it’s an interesting watch, so take a look.

“The ultimate BMX breakdown – here is all you need-to-know! A BMX, or Bicycle Motocross, has a long and rich history of the most creative riders constantly taking the sport above and beyond. Unseen Stevie Churchill Clips

March 6, 2019

It’s always pretty wild to think about how much footage may have never been used or seen over the years. There’s probably a ton of insane clips that we will never see because of it. Today, we came across this raw cut of clips Jeff DuPaul was sitting on for more than a few years now of Stevie Churchill. We’re not sure why the clips were never released or why he chose to upload them now, but we’re glad he did! It looks like these clips span back to his days on Volume. This is a good reminder that Stevie is NOT scared to send some really big barspins on some real big drops. Take a look!
