Timeless

February 5, 2016

Here’s an excellent BMX vide that Phil Aller put together from a trip he took with Steve Bancroft to Morocco with a few friends! This video has some real solid riding on unique spots from the street they came across to some DIY setups they built. There’s also a slideshow of photos that Steve shot at the end that are so good, too. Hit play and take it all in!

“A while back Steve Bancroft and myself took a trip to Morocco to meet our friends who were spending the winter living in vans on the beech in Taghazout.
We spent a week camping on waste land, eating from tagines, watching our friends surf, building a dirt quarter and riding the harsh terrain of Taghazout to Agadir.
This was a rad trip and i’m stoked it happened.
Thanks to our friends for lending us tents and making us feel welcome.
Cheers Phil

Dave has undoubtably been one of the biggest figures in BMX’s history and this is definitely a blow to BMX riders all around the world who looked up to him for his contributions to this sport of ours. There’s multiple sources reporting on the news from TMZ, an ABC> affiliate and >CNN. Below you can find a release on the news.

Watch: DAVE MIRRA VIDEOS & MORE

“GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – BMX legendary athlete Dave Mirra died Thursday afternoon in Greenville.
Greenville police responded to the 200 block of Pinewood Road around 4 p.m. for an apparent suicide.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 41-year-old Dave Mirra, of Greenville, sitting in a truck with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been visiting friends in the area a short time before the incident.

Considered an icon in the pro-BMX world, Mirra, was instrumental in bringing the sport to the City of Greenville, which now is home to more than 20 professional BMX riders. The record-holding athlete is survived by his wife and two children.

“We mourn the loss today of a great friend and wonderful human being who touched the lives of so many around the world with his gift. He called Greenville, North Carolina home and was as humble a guy talking with kids on a street corner about bikes as he was in his element on the world stage. A young life with so much to offer was taken too soon,” said City of Greenville Mayor Allen Thomas.

The Greenville Police Department will be handling the death investigation.

The family of Dave Mirra would appreciate privacy during this very difficult time.

If you or a loved one are struggling with suicidal thoughts, you are encouraged to seek help through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline by calling 1-800-273-TALK.” – SOURCE: WCNC

Josh Perry On TSG Helmets

February 4, 2016

josh-perry-tsg-helmets

After getting burned by Bern Helmets a little while back, it looks like Josh Perry has found a home with TSG Helmets! Get the full scoop on the news below in the press release that went out!

“TSG COLLABORATES WITH BMX PRO JOSH PERRY
Zürich, Switzerland, 2/4/2016.

At the end of 2015, Swiss protection brand TSG opened an office inthe US. In 2016 they also add a new US team rider to their roster. From now on, BMX pro Josh Perry will use TSG helmets and protection.Josh is well-versed in the field of safety and protection. When he was 21, Josh was diagnosed with a brain tumor that had spread over large parts of the left side of his brain. That day abruptly ended his “normal” life as a BMX pro. The tumor was removed during a seven-hour operation, returned twice, and was the decisive factor in Josh questioning and realigning his life. His main focus remains on food. When Josh changed his eating habits he realized how much energy and self-healing is possible with the right diet. Today, Josh is a certified holistic health coach who helps others discover the benefits of proper eating habits and learn a positive outlook on our life in general and reaching our
goals in particular.Even during those times of hardship, Josh also pushed his BMX career. His passion for BMX helped him focus and build the energy and determination to overcome his illness.

Nowadays, Josh combines his love for BMX and his passion for health care and dietary habits on his blog http://dailybrainstorms.com.In early January, Josh released his latest video full of new tricks on Ride BMX, which he had produced in record time right before a pending knee surgery. He still has to rest for another six weeks before being able to give it his 100% again.

The American is happy to get back on his BMX soon and work with his new partner:
“I am honored to partner with TSG helmets & safety gear. They are not only down with BMX, more importantly, they care about the protection and longevity of our brains. This is something that I advocate for and that’s very important to me after surviving 3 brain tumors in my early twenties. They have also worked with legends like Ryan Nyquist, Rob Darden and Josh Harrington in the past when I was younger. To have TSG supporting my riding is a dream come true. You can catch me riding in the Evolution certified BMX helmet, TSG knee and shin pads, as well as gloves!”
