Here’s an amazing idea that Eric Bahlman came up with to pay tribute to Dave Mirra. Back during filming for Props Road Fools 9, Dave and the entire crew painted their pedals blue when BMX lost Joe Tiseo. Now today, Eric is asking to bring this back for Dave and have everyone paint their pedals gold and post it on social media using #GoldPedalsForMirra. Help spread the word… This is a great idea to pay tribute to one of the best riders to ever touch a BMX bike.
It’s been a rough past two days since the news of Dave Mirra’s passing hit, but there’s been a lot of videos and stories surfacing reminding us just how incredible of a person Dave was on and off his bike. Here’s the “Miracle Boy and Nyquist” video that was originally released back in 2001. This is just short of an hour of amazing riding and just insight into the way Ryan Nyquist and Dave were living, along with a look into how they grew up and ended up where they were at that time.

When you’re just scrolling along on Facebook and then BOOM… This BMX video popped up on our feed and while we were watching it, we were just amazed by the stuff this guy was doing. Not only does it look like he’s making everything up as he goes, his actions are screaming “this is freestyle”. BMX needs more creative and crazy guys like this to keep it fun and unique. Not only that, look at that bike! One-piece cranks, 1″ fork, probably nothing fancy keeping that bike rolling, but that guy is crushing it.
Ryan Howard released this BMX video with behind the scenes footage of Zack Gerber doing that INSANE front flip from roof to roof in State College, Pennsylvania from Zack’s “Hard Times” section that absolutely blew everyone away when they first saw the clip. It looks like Zack only took a few feeler jumps before sending this, which was a pleasant surprise. I almost expected there to be some really gnarly crashes involved in this, but luckily there wasn’t. Plus, Zack’s reaction is absolute perfection of the feeling BMX can give you.

Here’s a fresh new BMX video featuring Erik Orgo putting in work at his local skatepark over in Estonia! As we’ve come to learn from Erik over the years, this guy has a deep bag of tricks and he has some real good style to pair up with those tricks to make for some really good riding worth checking out. This is no exception. Check it!

Etnies have been on it with releasing their latest round of signature shoes. Over the course of the past few days we have got a look at the new Chase Hawk Jameson SC, the Nathan Williams Jameson Vulc and the Chase Hawk Jameson MT shoes. Today, we’re getting a look at the new Aaron Ross signature Marana Vulc. The Marana Vulc is a slimmed down version o the Marana shoe that utilizes a Vulcanized outsole (think heat-treating for rubber to make it last longer). The shoe starts out with a suede and textile upper with a mesh tongue and collar lining and rubber printed toe cap. Inside, you an find a STI Evolution Foam Insole with the “Ross For Boss” logo to help with comfort and absorb impacts and the outsole features a triangle pattern that provides plenty of grip on the pedals without wearing out quickly.

Since the news broke yesterday of Dave Mirra’s untimely death, there has been a bunch of older footage of Dave surfacing online. Props BMX uploaded their old interview with Dave from Issue 6 that came out just over 20 years ago for you to check out. We’re sure a number of you might have never seen this one, but it’s definitely one you’ll want to see.

We shot this along the Daytona Beach, FL boardwalk during the Play “Contest of Love” weekend in the winter of 1995. Dave was 20 years old and had just gotten over being hit by a car on his bike. He was on the rise to become the icon he is today.

Ride BMX released their intro video for Dave Mirra when he was a presenter for NORA Cup this past summer. This 48 seconds covers A LOT of ground from Dave’s early beginnings on up through all the success he saw on and off his bike. There’s no denying that he was much, much more of an influence that just being really talented on a bike.
“Dave Mirra has suddenly been taken from us, who could’ve ever seen this coming? Words can’t describe my inner feelings right now, but it seems eerie, and yet ultimately comforting knowing that I had the opportunity to meet Dave at this past year’s NORA Cup awards ceremony. Dave was set as our presenter for the ramp category that night (he’d award Dennis Enarson later that night with Ramp Rider of the Year), and while Dave was timid on stage, he was clearly intrigued by the riding footage being projected on the giant screen. The nominee reels are always a mash of the very best riding that year from people like Dennis Enarson and Kriss Kyle, and I think Dave might’ve really had the chance to see the mark he left, and where the torch has now been carried… That moment is something I’ll never forget. Dave Mirra is a legend, an icon, and a true inspiration who shaped our world and left his mark, but you all know that.
