Ciao Crew – HELLINIKON

March 24, 2020

It’s pretty wild that the Olympics for 2020 have been postponed until 2021. What’s also wild is seeing what old Olympic venues look like after things finish up and the event moves on to the next city. The Ciao Crew decided to take advantage of the abandoned Olympic stadium in Athens, Greece that was built back in 2004 and see what they could find for spots to ride. It’s safe to say the place is loaded with gems to ride and these guys had no issue stacking clips. Hit play and take a look at what the got into!

“With the 2020 Olympic Games officially being postponed to 2021 we present to you HELLINIKON. While BMX Park will be an official part of the next Games being held in Tokyo, Japan Bruno Hoffmann, Kilian Roth and Mo Nussbaumer teamed up with filmer Rich Forne and photographer Merlin Czarnulla to put a different spin on things and decided to reinterpret an existing leftover of the Olympic circus – the olympic canoe track of 2004.
After lying deserted for over 15 years in the birthplace of the Olympic Games the decaying canoe track now offers tons of possibilities to ride and film a BMX video.

Getting the clips they desired turned out to be quite a challenge due to heavy security surveillance of the Olympic venue and resulted in a week long game of cat and mouse with the local security guards patrolling the premisses 24/7.
The riders & media crew made the best out of this tense situation by figuring out a way to still be productive while constantly being on the edge hiding from security. At times it felt more like a real-life hide and seek rather than a regular session with the homies but that made things quite interesting to say the least.

A huge shout out to Red Bull Germany for their support and making this project a reality.

There is an in-depth article about HELLINIKON over on the RedBull website!“- Ciao Crew

Sunday Bikes coming through with a fresh banger of a BMX video featuring Julian Arteaga cruising the streets with his smooth and effortless style. Julian puts all four pegs and his freecoaster to heavy use with precision lines that are too good to miss, and that ender is definitely something you need to see. We’re really digging the filming on this as well. It’s a nice change to see a video that isn’t all up in a riders face with crazy angles.

“SNIPERS. Over 5 minutes of Julian Arteaga’s classic style, is now LIVE on sundaybikes.com. Julian has a knack for making simple things look great, and hard things look easy. This video is all the proof you need. Filmed all long lens, no fish were harmed during the making.

March 23, 2020

With most of us under some sort of quarantine or just dealing with shutdowns caused by the Coronavirus, the sessions have slowed down a bit and there have been fewer new BMX videos popping up than usual. Matthias Dandois got bored and decided to get outside and practice a little social distancing with a solo flatland session. Here’s a look at what went down in this video that Flat Matters uploaded for everyone to enjoy!

“Breaking the weekly upload FM exclusive cycle, in order to keep you entertained during the Coronavirus pandemic. Many of us are already facing total lockdown, and if not, you are about to….
Matthais Dandois got in contact with a fresh new clip, switching back and forth front to back wheel like a mad man for episode 9 of the Flatmattersonline exclusives after being in quarantine himself for a few days.
I’m still taking in Kio Hayakawa’s amazing line, and Matthias throws down this belter for us all. Thanks Matthias, stay safe out there everyone. And let’s use flatland to help us through this difficult time, these clips are going off!!
