Volume Bikes – 20th Anniversary Dinosaur Frame

October 17, 2019

Volume Bikes 20th Anniversary Dinosaur Frame BMX

Now this is a serious Flashback Friday. Volume Bikes just announced that they will be re-releasing their old Dinosaur frame as a part of their 20th anniversary! This brings me waaay back to when I was first getting into BMX and remember seeing one of the locals at the trails rolling around on one of the original Volume Dinosaur frames when it first came out way back in 2001. Fast forward all these years and Volume will be re-releasing the Brian Castillo signature frame with modern materials and geometry (along with a weight that won’t throw your back out!) that fits with 2020 style BMX frames. Check out full details on the frame below, along with geometry, specs and photos! Available through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Volume Bikes worldwide now like Source BMX!

“For Volume’s 20th anniversary we wanted to bring back a classic frame. Brian Castillo’s signature Dinosaur! This frame originally came out in 2001! Brian knew what he wanted back then, with it only being available in a 20.5” top tube (Exactly as he rode it himself) and dropouts borrowed from a previous years Volume frame. Even today, Brian’s influence on bmx still shows in riders around the world, whether they know it or not.

The frame features a double butted front triangle with top and bottom gussets for added strength, wider bottom bracket shell for bigger tire clearance, 13” chainstay (slammed), 9.25” standover, classic solid 5mm thick dropouts, removable seatstay brake mounts, built in seat clamp, CNC’d seatstay bridge and a classic wishbone chainstay junction!” – Volume Bikes

Talking BMX Media & News With Brant Moore

October 17, 2019

If you have been following the Imprimatur BMX podcast, there’s a chance you might have listened to the Trey Jones interview, that lead to another interview with Ryan Fudger from Our BMX where they got into how the way media works in BMX with a lot of emphasis on the advertiser versus non-advertiser content and how it should be handled. Those conversations got Brant Moore curious about kind of the history of BMX media and how it has changed, where it’s going and how to find a balance that allows media companies to exist or add value when we’re in a time when brands are less reliant on it because they have their own outlets with big follower bases. Brant asked me to do a live stream with him to get my perspective and some of the insights I’ve learned over the years with my time working with other media channels like DIG and Ride, to the transitions I’ve made with BMX Union in the last 12 years. This is kind of a big picture, long history kind of look at things with a few ideas for solutions and how to transition with the future. Above is the video, then I have embedded the podcasts that Imprimatur did with Trey and Fudger. I try to stay away from content based around me or my opinions, especially things that were spurred more on a drama / beef kind of topic, so this isn’t something you’ll see too often, haha.

“Talking BMX Media with the man behind BMX Union!

We cover some of the history of BMX media and BMX Union, as well as how things have changed in regards to sponsorship in BMX media throughout the years. We also talk about some possible solutions for the problems BMX media may face in the coming years and how Youtube is a huge factor in all of this.

Shout out and big thanks to Kurt for joining!” – Brant Moore

You now you’re in for something awesome when you put Simone Barraco, Mark Burnett, Joris Coulomb and Jiri Blabol together in a city like Warsaw, Poland. Fit Bike Co. – F-Log: What The Chuck?

October 16, 2019

Fit Bike Co. coming through with a new F-Log filled with some b-roll action from a filming mission that Charles Littlejohn and Ben Silver got in last weekend. This is loaded with scraps, crashes and random footage. There’s a few solid clips in here, which means we should be in for a heavy edit when Charles’ new edit is wrapped up!

“Charles LittleJohn is currently clippin’ for a new FIT edit. He went out to film with Ben Silver (who’s back on the bike after a string of bad luck) on Sunday and had to sweat for some stuff. It isn’t always #OVER in one take… take a look at CLJ workin’ for it in this week’s F-LOG and stay tuned for the makes dropping soon.

Martin Siman – Dance

October 16, 2019

It’s always rad checking out a BMX video of a rider we’re not familiar with. TBB Bike over in the Czech Republic uploaded this new video featuring Martin Šiman going to work on a fun looking plaza setup with plenty of ledges, banks, rollers and more to ride. Martin produced plenty of grind combos and lines, making for a real solid watch. Take a look and see what he threw down.

“It’s insane how consistent Martin is. Not only for this reason i knew he is the right guy to work with on an one day video. After talking about it for quite a while, we finally have spent one day on previously selected location and put in work.” – Šimon Čechura
