February 23, 2017

The first look at the 2018 Mirra Pro Tribute Bike from Haro Bikes!

Haro Bikes 2018 Mirra Pro Tribute Bike BMX

Here’s one we’ve been waiting to see! Haro Bikes have just released details on the Dave Mirra 2018 Mirra Pro Tribute bike that they have been working on! This bike turned out absolutely phenomenal and Haro did such an amazing job with the details on this bike. You can get more info on the bike below!

“There are no two ways about it: Dave Mirra was the spark that revitalized Haro in the mid 1990s. Gone were the days of Bob Haro and Ron Wilkerson behind the brand’s direction — it was now Dave Mirra and Ryan Nyquist designing complete bikes that were affordable, high quality and available worldwide to a new legion of BMX fans. A few years later, the X Games hit, and suddenly, Dave Mirra’s signature Haro was on every TV screen of an ESPN subscriber, and demand for his signature bikes and components sky rocketed.

Mirra remained an esteemed member of the Haro team through the end of 2006, and then started his own brand, Mirraco, for the remainder of his BMX career. But the majority of Mirra’s accomplishments at the top of the sport were done on a signature Haro, and it’s where most of us remember him best.

Now, to honor Dave Mirra, Haro is releasing a 2017 tribute Dave Mirra bike, with a bulk of the sales proceeds going directly to the Mirra family. It is but one more way for BMX to continually honor the life, legacy and greatness of Dave Mirra, and all that he gave to his family, friends and BMX as a whole. And it’s proof positive that the memory of Dave Mirra will remain with all of us for a long time to come.”

The 2018 Mirra Pro Tribute Bike comes in 20.5″ only, weighs in at 26.5 lbs. and has a $799.99 price tag.

You can learn more about this bike on the Haro Bikes website.

“Remembering Mirra”

February 5, 2017

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since BMX had lost Dave Mirra. Yesterday was the one year of his passing and it still doesn’t seem real. X Games re-upped the entire “Remembering Mirra” show that originally aired on TV and everywhere last year taking a look at Dave’s entire life. Let’s watch it again (or for the first time if you missed it last year) to remember everything great about the legend that we lost too soon.

““Remembering Mirra” documents the life, legacy and influence of BMX legend Dave Mirra.

April 4, 1974 – February 4, 2016

The full episode, which features dialogue from Steve Swope, Ryan Nyquist and Daniel Dhers, originally aired as part of ABC’s World of X Games in 2016.“

Drawing Dave Mirra

January 6, 2017

Brant Moore has been on a drawing kick lately. A little while back he drew Scotty Cranmer, now today he has this new video where he draws Dave Mirra. Hit play to watch Brant draw this from start to finish to a familiar tune if you ever played the Dave Mirra video games. Rad video for sure. Rest In Peace, Dave!

“Graphite pencil drawing of Dave Mirra using only a Dixon Toconderoga #2 pencil.

Dave was one of, if not, the first people I drew way back in 2007.
How fitting that he be the first person I draw in 2017!

Remembering Dave Mirra – Ben Bostrom

October 8, 2016

There was no doubt that the passing of Dave Mirra left a ton of people from all of the world shocked and saddened. The impact he left on so many people will stick with all of them forever. Today, Specialized released a piece of the “Remembering Dave Mirra” documentary of Dave’s triathlon partner, Ben Bostrom, reading a letter he wrote for Dave with some of the stories and how Dave had impacted him. The letter was written on the eve of the Kona triathlon, which him and Dave had previously trained for together. This might not have much to do with BMX, but you can see how much impact that Dave had beyond what he was known best for. Rest in Peace, Dave. Everyone misses you.

We want to hear from you! Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Dave Mirra “Against The Grain”

July 16, 2016

Here’s a Dave Mirra video that surfaced online a few months ago, but just started making the rounds. Above you can find Dave’s incredible section from the “Against The Grain” video that came out back in 2002. Although this section is 14 years old, there’s still a ton of absolutely crazy clips like the fufanu on the goal post and basketball hoop, huge air tricks and more technical lip tricks to slaying some big rails. Dave was an absolute machine and this is a good reminder of that. Rest in Peace, Dave.

Dave Mirra and Dennis McCoy Inducted Into BMX Hall of Fame Video

June 16, 2016

Last weekend, Dennis McCoy and Dave Mirra were inducted into the BMX Hall of Fame. We caught a photogallery from the ceremony, now we get a look at some highlights from the entire event courtesy of Ride BMX. Check it!

“On Saturday, June 11th, both Dave Mirra and Dennis McCoy were inducted into the USA BMX Hall Of Fame. The ceremony took place down at the Olympic Training Facility in Chula Vista, California. Filled with legends of all kinds and industry heads from generations past, the event was far from something you’d find at a NORA Cup, but BMX nonetheless. Glad I got to witness Dennis McCoy get honored after 31 years of being a pro and getting to see Mike Mirra, although briefly, talk about his son was an honor.

Dennis’ segment is first. Dave’s starts around the 17:30 mark…”

Over the weekend, two of BMX’s finest were inducted into the BMX Hall of Fame in Chula Vista, California. Both of which were beyond deserving and, surprising to many, were not already on the prestigious list. Those two riders would be the late Dave Mirra and then Dennis McCoy who is celebrating 31 years of riding professionally. There’s a photogallery from the event over on the X Games website, along with some interesting facts and words you might not have known about both of them.
