“Here at DIG we just can’t say enough good things about this guy. His contribution to BMX is second to none on so many levels and even his music taste rules. Welcome to Level 4 Matt!

“I remember my parent’s 40th birthday. “Over the hill” written in black icing, with a sugary tombstone and a vulture perched on top of their macabre cake. It was so distant. So inconceivable, personally: The beginning of the end. And now, here we are…

In the hollow anticipation of impending change, this is a collection of clips on the way to my 40th.

I hope you enjoy.” – Matt Coplon

In The Cut – District of Cinema

May 29, 2017

Last week we got a look at the amazing District of Cinema video that the Cinema BMX team came through with after a few days in Washington D.C. Today, we get a look at a raw cut of footage that didn’t make the cut for the video, along with crashes, laughs and random clips they collected along the way. Check out the footage below and make sure you check out the full video after. It’s safe to say these guys had a good time on their trip!

Watch the full “District of Cinema” video here!

“It’s hard to find a more progressive street team in BMX and it’s safe to say that the Cinema team is above and beyond the call of duty in every department. So when Nathan Williams, Dakota Roche, Chad Kerley, Garrett Reynolds and Corey Martinez got back in the van and hit the streets of DC, it’s safe to say pretty much everyone was watching and the video that dropped was indeed full of magic. There’s nothing else about that we can add that you don’t already know, but now here’s our behind the scenes look at the big reunion for our latest episode of ‘DIG BMX – IN THE CUT’. This is a good one!

In The Cut – DUB Jam 2017

May 21, 2017

Every time the DUB crew throw a street jam, you know there’s going to be a massive turnout and a ton of amazing riding going down. Here’s a raw cut from the DUB Jam that went down recently that, despite a little rain, looks like it went off proper. Here’s a raw cut from the day for your viewing pleasure.

“We haven’t missed a DUB Jam yet and a torrent of rain wasn’t about to stop us this time. Despite that we still arrived late, so sorry to the folk who were shredding in the rain earlier on – you’ll be able to catch all those clips in the official DUB video soon. As always the best times catching up with old friends and watching the next generation come through. The UK is definitely rife with serious street talent. Massive thanks to DUB, everyone who came through, the sun, Official DIG Partners and DUB Jam sponsors:

Inspired By BMX: Ricky Feather – Frame Builder

May 20, 2017

It’s always interesting seeing what Professional riders get into “after BMX”. There’s a lot of talented guys that transition into something that still let’s them have that freedom and creative outlet that we all love. One perfect example would be Ricky Feather, who after his time with United went on to start Feather Cycles where he builds custom frames of all shapes and sizes for customers. Despite seeming like he was a mess at a younger age, he managed to find something that allowed him to do something the demands perfection, and he does it damn well. Here’s his story…

“Welcome to episode 3 of DIG Alumni ‘Inspired by BMX’. This series looks at four creatives whose lives were shaped by being involved at varying levels within the BMX community. BMX not only inspired them artistically, it provided them with a worldview that encouraged risk, made them open to opportunity, and gave them the tools to come up with creative solutions to the problems life threw at them. These episodes are proof that picking up that bike can not only change the direction of your life, but also have an impact well beyond the confines of the BMX world.

Well over a decade ago ago, Ricky Feather was making a name for himself as a progressive street rider, with a sponsorship from United and an ahead-of-its-time part in Attila’s Hit The Switch video (not to mention, for real video nerds, an absolutely killer part in the bonus section of Joe Cox’s Voices DVD, which can be found in the DIG Video Vault. Ricky lived the BMX dream, travelling the world to ride, but came home to Leeds, UK to a ‘real life’ of dead-end factory jobs. Seeking a way out, he taught himself to build bike frames with little formal training but with a perfectionist’s eye. Miraculously, within a short period of time he had built up a two year waiting list and won several awards for his hand crafted road machines. Today he still makes every Feather Cycles frame completely by hand in his workshop in Yorkshire, working closely with the buyer to ensure the bike is built not only to their specifications, but that it will be absolutely the right bike for their needs.
