Sometimes it’s easy to forget that the people working behind the scenes running websites are actually riders and usually pretty good on a bike. Effraim Catlow is the man behind Flat Matters, for those of you who didn’t know, but he’s also a phenomenal flatland rider as well. “Coming Full Circle
– I have know Effraim Catlow for a few years now we had always spoken about creating him a flatland bmx edit. In Early June 2014, we finally decided to go ahead and shoot. He wanted to create a edit that was true to his style of flatland. Things may have slightly changed since his would championship days, but Effraim’s passion, creativity and progression for flatland have only got stronger. We filmed at at the Brook Club in Portsmouth where Effraim as been riding most days for the past 5 years. This July the Brook Club will be demolished, It was a pleasure to be apart of this project and to also witness and document some of the last few sessions inside of the Brook Club.

Portsmouth Street Games – Effraim Catlow Teaser
Here’s a little promo video fro the Portsmouth Street Games that’s going down in a little over a week featuring Flat Matters‘ own, Effraim Catlow, throwing down a few flatland moves and telling us what’s going on! If you are in the area, this should be a good time, so hit it up!
“The Portsmouth Guildhall Square and surrounding area is set to open as an outdoor festival venue with its first showcase being the Portsmouth Street Games on 31st May and 1st June, organised by the Portsmouth Cultural Trust and Big Adventures.
The event will feature a range of local acts of national and international repute such as free runner Mitch Lee, one of the UK’s leading Mountain Bike display riders, Chris Doney, and Effraim Catlow, BMX flatlander king from Southsea Skate Park. Visitors can also look forward to a programme of street dance and live music as well as a street style arts & crafts market with a variety of food offers and family activities.
A life size New York subway train replica will act as a graffiti canvas for the street art element of the Games, curated by local and internationally known artists My Dog Sighs and Lex Luther.”
