flybikes-2017-fuego-bmx-frame-dark-blue-angles-front

Flybikes dropped a look at the new 2017 Devon Smillie signature Fuego frame in the new matte semi-translucent dark blue color. For this year, it sounds like other than the new color, the only other change to the frame is that it now features a shorter 13″ chainstay length and an additional 20.5″ top tube length.

The Fuego frame is made from full 4130 chromoly tubing with a 75.5-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.75″ bottom bracket height, 9.25″ standover height and a 13″ chainstay length. You can find an offset thickness integrated head tube with dual internal and external gussets on the top and down tubes, multi-butted and tapered top and down tubes, a multi-butted seat tube, Investment Cast seat post clamp with the horizontal cut system, a Mid bottom bracket, Investment Cast seat and chain stay bridges, removable Dylan style brake mounts and Investment Cast dropouts with the removable chain tensioner.

The 2017 Fuego frame comes in this matte semi-translucent dark blue color and matte black in top tube sizes of 20.5″ and 21″. The frame is available through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Flybikes worlwide and direct from the Flybikes website.

The larger version of the Tractor sprocket, the Tractor XL sprocket in the new Space Grey color. This sprocket is unique because it’s 16mm thick in the center, eliminating the need for spacers and a bottom bracket dust cover, then tapers down to 6mm at the teeth like a traditional sprocket. Clean and simple.

Sneak Peek: Flybikes – Lunar Rim

September 25, 2016

flybikes-lunar-rim-bmx-colors

It looks like Flybikes have decided to revamp their popular Classic rim for 2017. Flybikes have released a few sneak previews of their new Lunar rim that will be hitting BMX shops and mail-orders toward the end of October / Early November. The rim features extra rounded edges to help resist ping flats, a deeper rim bed to make it easier to seat the tire, increased the overall width of the rim with offset spoke holes to increase the strength and kept the extra drilled holes for rotational weight savings. The rim also features a welded seam, which was really popular on their original Classic rim. The Lunar rim will be available in black, dark gold and their new Space Grey colorway through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Flybikes worldwide toward the end of October!

Here is one we know a number of people are excited for. The Devon Smillie signature Devon tire. It uses a similar style as the classic Ruben tire, just more street influenced. It also has the “Protection Line” sidewall which is a harder rubber to help with grinds. This tire will come in Tan, the new Dark Blue color, white and black and 2.30″ only.

Sneak Peek: Flybikes – Volcano Front and Top Load Stems

September 12, 2016

flybikes-volcano-bmx-stem-front-load

If you follow Fly Bikes on Instagram or Facebook, you would have seen the sneak peek looks at their 2017 products that they have been dropping. Last week we got a look at their new Volcano Fork and now we’re getting a look at their new Volcano top and front load stems. No details as far as specs and everything go, but one of the most stand out features are the anti-slip grooves where the bars sit. We did see some comments questioning if the bars will have ridges and we’ve also seen people thinking it will cause crushing because it’s not putting pressure on the bars evenly all around. We highly doubt they will be using bars with matching ridges and we’re pretty sure it shouldn’t cause crushing. At least, we would assume they tested for that, right? Beyond that, they both look like real clean stems with extra machining externally and internally for weight savings, beveled edges, a recessed top for a flush fork cap and solid chromoly bolts. Not sure on sizes or colors, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more!

Sneak Peek: Flybikes – Volcano Fork

September 5, 2016

flybikes-volcano-bmx-fork-courage-adams

It looks like Fly Bikes have started to unveil their new 2017 product range. Over the course of the past few days, we’ve been getting a look at their brand new Volcano fork that will be dropping toward the end of October / Early November. Based off the photos, it looks like the fork is made from heat-treated 4130 chromoly with a triple butted, CNC machined ovalized steerer tube, an integrated cone race, tapered legs and 30mm offset Investment Cast dropouts.

If you were reading that, the Ovalized Steerer tube should have caught your attention. Based off the photo, it looks like the steerer tube starts out round at the top and then becomes ovalized as it meets the legs. The crown race is still round to accommodate the headset. This helps to spread the legs out a little further to give more clearance for 2.40″ tires and more welding surface. Expect full details closer to its release!
