The Day BMX Took Over The Streets Worldwide

January 1, 2016

This past summer, Monster Energy‘s Street Series contest decided to do one full day of BMX all over the world with jams going on in the U.S., U.K, Latvia and Japan. Check out this highlight reel from each stop all in one video. It was definitely a wild one and it sounds like we’ll be seeing it go down once again this summer!

“The Street Series Jams went global in 2015 in support of #BMXDAY and they couldn’t have gone any better! On the 18th of July we saw multiple street jams going off worldwide, all in the name of having fun on bikes. We were there with DIG for the five main events in Glasgow UK, Riga in Latvia, Nagoya in Japan and San Francisco/Chicago in the US… and we thought we’d put them all together and show you what went down that day in one single recap edit. One of the most exciting factors of street jams is the fact that anything can happen and this year was no different. High speed gaps, run-ins with cops, crazy locals and mobs of riders weaving their way though cities… this is how you do it!

And that’s not all; we’re stoked to announce that you can look out for a 2016 Street Series jam in support of #BMXDAY jam near you on July 23rd. Look for more new on DIGBMX.com early this year. #BEAPARTOFIT

ryan-guettler-off-monster-energy

With the end of the year hitting at the end of this week, the sponsor changes for 2016 will be starting to hit hard. Today, Ryan Guettler will no longer be apart of the Monster Energy program for 2016! He made the announcement on Instagram…

“After 13 years of good times I want to announce I will no longer be riding for @monsterenergy No use crying over spilled milk, we’re already the luckiest guys on the planet. #BMX“.

It sounds like he’s not all too disappointed by the news, so that’s a positive. Ryan still remains a pro rider and team manager for Hyper and Snafu, along with the pro teams for Vans and Ethika.

Monster – The Ramp II: Scotty Cranmer

October 29, 2015

Here’s one we know a few of you have been waiting to see from Scotty Cranmer and Ride BMX. The Ramp II, featuring Scotty, and Matty Cranmer, getting lose on anything they could set the little kicker up on. Based off this BMX video, it’s safe to say Scotty kicked his own ass for this one, but ended up with some amazing clips too. Check it!

“The first in a six part series, Scotty Cranmer gave the newly revamped ramp it’s first go. As always, Scotty comes through with some heavy clips, but nothing came easy…he worked for nearly every clip up until a slight miscalculation had him flying into a wall, separating his shoulder and popping a blood vessel in his eye, as well…

Rules are not what BMX is about. And, when you begin to subscribe to an idea that you’re supposed to do this or that while riding your bike, you’re missing the whole idea…

In the July 2009 issue of the magazine we introduced The Ramp. It was an article that took us two years to make, as we passively ticked away at sending it around the country to various people. Jimmy Levan did a wallride over a nine foot barb’d wire fence to flat, Garrett Byrnes jumped a Ferrari, Dave Osato did a tailwhip nosepick on a barrier, and Craig Mast attempted to jump a 50 foot creek. It was an entertaining article, we thought. It was different, yet inherently BMX at the same time. After all, a board laid on a block was, for a long time, most people’s first introduction to launching into the air. It was the first ramp and still remains the simplest to make. But, as parks get placed in every neighborhood, the idea of a block and board has seemingly been forgotten. And further, as a whole, we’ve become so institutionalized that the idea of building a ramp and jumping something out in the streets taboo. Straightforward feelings: fuck that. So, after some thought, we decided to bring the ramp back for another go for a six part series that we’ll be introducing over the next year. First up, the legendary Scotty Cranmer breaks the seal on the newly revised ramp.” – Ride BMX
