Rob Ridge – Strong Arm Tactics

It has been a fairly slow day for BMX videos today, but this completely makes up for it! Rob Ridge just dropped a brand new video that we didn’t see coming and it’s an absolute banger. As always, Rob comes through with the most amazing technical ramp riding, with crazy flatland / ramp riding hybrid tricks with no shortage of front brake magic! This is such a good watch from start to finish with clips from a ton of different parks. Hit that play button because BMX needs more of this!

“In 2008, while filming for this now legendary Anthem ii video part, Mike Aitken suffered a life-threatening crash at Posh.

He was in a coma for three weeks.

Having suffered a traumatic brain injury, complete paralysis of his right side, a broken jaw, broken eye socket and a tracheotomy, Mike’s road to recovery was a long one.

He had to learn to walk again, to swallow… to control his right side, balance, and eventually, ride his bike.

Mike and his family’s life were completely changed by this incident, and as is common with brain injuries of this magnitude, continues to face multiple challenges as a result… compromised vision, memory loss and fatigue being just a few.

Mike Aitken’s journey and recovery has been an exceptional and highly inspirational one. In an effort to show our ongoing gratitude and appreciation for everything Mike has done for BMX, we are raffling off the very bike Mike rode in Anthem ii to raise funds for both the Aitken family and Posh and Catty Woods’ insurance premiums.

Mike Aitken’s contribution to BMX is immeasurable. Let’s show him how much we appreciate the influence and sacrifice he’s made.

The Vans team make their way into The Grey.

When you take the Vans team anywhere, you know they’re going to absolutely crush everything in sight. Here’s their new “GREY” video that features Dennis Enarson, Bruno Hoffmann, Alex Donnachie, Simone Barraco, Dan Lacey, Anthony Perrin, and Lewis Mills getting loose down in Lima, Peru in South America! Obviously this a list of heavy hitters, and we really haven’t seen too many BMX videos out of Peru, so the spots are pretty untapped. Here’s some news that we’re sure a bunch of people will be stoked on! Vans have released their latest Old Skool Pro Colorway! This time around they’ve teamed up with Larry Edgar on a shoe, snapback hat and long sleeve shirt in a Black and Yellow color combo with some unique artwork that fit Larry’s style well! The shoe utilizes the Old Skool Pro BMX model that we’ve seen for Kevin Peraza, Matthias Dandois and Ty Morrow so far, with Larry’s own personal touch on the insole and the midsole of the shoe. FBM CLOSING ITS DOORS AFTER 18 YEARS

It’s a new year, and we’ve seen some shake ups with sponsorships, but here’s some news we weren’t expecting to be talking about this morning. Steve Crandall has just announced that FBM will be closing its doors after 18 years of riding, manufacturing BMX bikes in the U.S.A and plenty of partying. This news is definitely a bummer since it’s one of those brands you just feel good about. They put in a lot of work to put out a good vibe and make BMX look fun. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to keep the sales going and the lights on. It’s a bummer to hear this news, for sure. Check out the official word from Steve down below…

“FBM started out as a crew.

Just some friends stoked on bikes. Through our curiosity and bike riding fueled smiles, we ended up as a full fledged bike company.

Unfortunately, we have closed the machine shop and FBM will no longer manufacture bikes.

This has been an unbelievably tough decision and we explored multiple options to maintain business as usual but we simply aren’t able to keep moving forward under existing model. That being said, we can’t thank everyone enough for being a part of FBM and helping us get this far in the world. The FBM Machine Shop opened in 2001 and built some of the best parts in BMX for 18 amazing years. You helped us build fun and share the message of community, positivity and DIY good times and we appreciate the support more than I even know how to express.

And since we started as a a crew, some day we will finish as a crew.

At it’s core FBM is built around friendship, and the spirit of FBM will live on forever, in our hearts, as a lifestyle and as an idea.

The heart of FBM is the people and that will never change. But FBM isn’t just for the people, it IS the people.

What we’ve all done collectively has been pretty powerful and inspiring.

The Road Goes on forever and the party never ends… (We jam econo!)

After re-reading the statement a few times, it sounds like FBM might still exist on another level, just not through manufacturing bikes. Maybe they’re going back to where it got its start just making t-shirts? We’ll keep you posted once we hear more.
