Proper Bike Co. – Madrid

Proper just sent through a link to their latest BMX video from a team trip they took to Madrid, Spain to search the city for its finest spots! Needless to say, Janis Cunculis, James Curry, Jordan Stump and Sam Marden had no problem finding some amazing setups that allowed for some heavy clips to be stacked. They even found some massive doughnuts to munch on, too. Excellent riding and some real good film work makes this one a Must See for sure! Hit play and enjoy!

We’d be been planning a trip to Madrid for literally years. It’s a city with too many good rails and we took a crew more than capable of taking advantage of that. Get out the city centre and you’ll find them.
Fortune was one our side. The weather, spots, and riders made for a happy crew. No injuries, few flats, and no broken parts meant we were able to accomplish a lot in a week without getting anywhere close to running out of the seemingly endless set ups.

Product: Proper Bike Co. – Select Universal Drive Side Hub Guard

If you caught our posts a while back about the Proper Select Hub Guards, you would have heard that Proper were planning to add a Drive Side option to their line of Select hub guards. It looks like they have finally released the guard, which starts out with a CNC machined Ultramid Nylon with a heat-treated 4140 chromoly core. The guard fits most 9-tooth hubs (14mm male or 10mm female bolts with an adaptor that’s included) and because of the hexagon shape of the chromoly core, it helps to prevent the guard from spinning, as well as the wheel from slipping with more metal on metal surface area.

The Select Universal Drive Side Hub Guard comes in black only and is available through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Proper Bike Co. now!

Sneak Peek: Proper Bike Co. – Tecmatik Frame

It looks like Proper Bike Co. have been working on a new BMX Frame called the Tecmatik. This frame was designed to be a low frills, affordable frame that is high quality. The frame is made from 4130 chromoly with a 75-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.6″ bottom bracket height, 8.9″ standover height and a 13.38″ chain stay length (13.05″ slammed). The Tecmatik features laser cut gussets on the top and down tubes, an integrated seat post clamp, curved seat and chain stay bridges, tapered seat and chain stays, a tapered MID bottom bracket, clearance for 28-tooth sprockets and 2.40″ tires and 4mm thick dropouts. This frame doesn’t have any fancy CNC’d graphics or extras that would increase the overall price of the frame. Just clean and simple.

The Tecmatik frame will be available in top tube lengths if 20.7″ and 21″ with colors of ED black and matte clear coat raw with a weight of 4 lb. 13 oz. through all BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Proper Bike Co. soon. This frame comes with a sticker pack for you to customize to your liking.

Insight: Proper Bike Co. – Select Hub Guards

With the ever growing popularity of grinding and finding a way to grind smoother, further and all around better, we’ve seen a lot of innovation from pegs to hub guards over the years. We’ve gone from heavy oversized pegs to titanium, aluminum and plastic pegs and we have seen hub guards in multiple variations as well from guards you zip tie on to designs that snap into place or slide on replacing the existing hardware. However, there’s still room for some innovation. The guys over at Proper Bike Co. have been busy working on their new range of products that have just recently been released worldwide through BMX shops and mail-orders. One of the items in particular we thought was pretty interesting are their new Select hub guards that use a slightly different design than other options on the market. Product: Proper Bike Co. – Select Front Hub

To go along with their new Select Male Freecoaster Hub, the guys over at Proper Bike Co. have released their new Select Female front hub. Like the freecoaster, we wanted to know all about this new hub, so we got ahold of Jamie Cameron to get the scoop. This hub starts out with a 6061 alloy shell that has a very smooth look with thicker flanges to give it a stiffer feel. Inside you can find two 6902 sealed bearings and a chromoly female axle with 17mm chromoly bolts with 6mm broaches and 7075 cones to keep it all tight. The Select Female hub is available in black, polished and oil slick color options and there is also an optional Ultramid® Nylon hub guard that replaces the hardware and protects you hub from wear and tear.

Product: Proper Bike Co. – Select Freecoaster Hub

The other day we were cruising around on Instagram and we came across a photo of a new freecoaster hub from Proper Bike Co. that they just released. We were curious if there was anything special about this hub or if it was just another “clone” of the other options available. So, we got ahold of Proper to find out just what the story is.

Although this hub uses the traditional KHE internals that a lot of the other freecoaster hubs out there use, they did do their research to ensure quality, so they created their own 6061 shell with high quality 6002 bearings, custom designed 7075 cones, a 155mm long, 14mm heat-treated chromoly male axle, 17mm chromoly axle bolts with a 6mm broach and a 9-tooth chromoly driver that is available in right or left side drive with colors of black, polished and oil slick. There is also an optional non-drive hub guard made from Ultramid® Nylon that replaces the hardware to prevent spending of your frame. Product: Proper Bike Co. – Vanguard Sprocket Out Now

Thinking about a new sprocket? Proper Bike Co. just released their new Vanguard sprocket that is CNC machined from 6.7mm thick 7075 aluminum with a 23.8mm bore (comes with 22mm and 19mm adaptors), extra machinining for a clean look and additional weight savings, four rotation points for you to bolt to your cranks for extended life and wide enough to fit half-link chains. The Vanguard sprocket comes in 25, 27 and 28 tooth versions with colors of black, high polish, Ox Blood red and Dark blue.

Some of you might be wondering why they did a 27-tooth option… Here’s why.

“We thought very carefully about the sizes, the 27T is for those who want to run a slightly bigger gear size but still wants to go crooked grinds, 27T is the maximum size you can go and still give good clearance.“

There’s always a pretty steady flow of new BMX talent coming out of the United Kingdom. Recently, we’ve been seeing a name popping up that has really caught our attention.
