ReUp: Proper Madrid

The Proper Bikes crew decided it was due time to jump on Youtube, so they are kicking things off with a video they dropped a year ago on their Vimeo for your viewing pleasure.

Last year, Proper decided take a trip on over to Madrid, Spain with their team to explore the city and put its endless spots to good use. The crew had a very productive week and ended up coming through with this phenomenal video with excellent riding, rad spots and some dialed film work. This is a really good watch from start to finish, so hit that play button and enjoy this video once again!

We’d be been planning a trip to Madrid for literally years. It’s a city with too many good rails and we took a crew more than capable of taking advantage of that. Get out the city centre and you’ll find them.

Fortune was one our side. The weather, spots, and riders made for a happy crew. No injuries, few flats, and no broken parts meant we were able to accomplish a lot in a week without getting anywhere close to running out of the seemingly endless set ups.

Chase De Mataro – Bicycle Motocross

The actual title of this one if “Bicycle Motocross With An Old Camera And A Scratched Fisheye”. It’s a pretty long title, but it’s accurate. Hit play to check out a bunch of real solid clips Chase De Mataro stacked at skateparks and street spots around London! This has a less than serious vibe, but it’s one of those videos that will keep you interested from start to finish.

Proper X Hardcore Hobbies – Connor Phimister Video

The Art of the BMX Sprocket

It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these “The Art Of” pieces, so we figured it would be a good time to take a closer look at one part in particular that we’ve been thinking about lately, the BMX Sprocket. The other day we were bouncing around to a few different brands websites to see if there were any new products or anything else new to see, and we ended up staring at the sprockets. When you think about it, the sprocket is one of those things that can really be altered the most as far as aesthetics go. We’ve seen A LOT of sprockets in BMX’s history, so we decided to stick to sprockets that are currently available. Even with cutting it back to that, there’s still a ton of options available. Add in the different combos between the standard bolt drive, Spline drive, and socket drive, colors, versions with guards, etc. There’s a lot to take in. We bounced around and picked out some of our favorites from a number of brands, which you can check out below with a few words about each! Ready?

Product: Proper Bike Co. – Tecmatik Frame

A few months ago we got a look at the new Proper Bike Co. Tecmatik frame that they have been working on over the U.K. The plan for the frame? It’s a straight forward frame without too many bells and whistles other than being durable to handle todays riding. This full 4130 chromoly frame has a 75-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.6″ bottom bracket height, 8.9″ stand over height and 13.38″ chainstay length (13.05″ slammed). You can find laser cut top and down tube gussets, a tapered Mid bottom bracket, integrated seat post clamp, curved seat and chain stay bridges, tapered seat and chain stays, 5mm thick heat-treated 14mm drop outs. The frame has clearance for 2.40″ tires and 28-tooth sprockets.

The Tecmatik is hitting BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Proper Bike Co. worldwide now. It’s available in 20.7″ and 21″ top tube lengths, colors of raw and ED black with a weight of 4 lb. 13 oz.

Sneak Peek: Proper Bike Co. – BQR Tripod BMX Seat

Due for a new BMX Seat? Here’s a little sneak peek at the new Tripod seat that Proper Bike Co. are working with their team rider Josh James AKA Boqer123 that will be hitting BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Proper in about two weeks. It sounds like the seat will be available in two colors (no word on the 2nd) and it appears to be a leather seat with a stitched “BQR” logo and stitched side tag. All in all, it looks like a real clean seat to us.

Josh James Video Bike Check

Proper Bike Co.‘s own Josh James dropped this new video Bike Check giving you a look at his current Trawlerman setup that he’s running decked out with Proper and a few other brands parts. You even get a sneak peek look at Josh’s new signature Tripod seat that he’s working on as well that looks real good.
