The other night, the Sparky’s Distribution crew threw a jam at the Skatepark of Tampa with pro team riders from The Shadow Conspiracy and Subrosa in attendance. Check out this short, but sweet highlight BMX video featuring the likes of Simone Barraco, Matt Ray, Mark Burnett, Trey Jones, Eric Bahlman, Johnny Atencio, Ryan Sher and a handful of the locals throwing down on their bikes!

Whenever a new Dude Bird video pops in the inbox, we try to completely clear our mind of any preconceived idea of what we might just see. Needless to say, once again, they have managed to leave us thinking “What the hell are we watching?… Why can’t we stop watching?”. We dropped a video from the 2015 Skatepark of Tampa Roast Bowl Jam the other day, now we have a look at what went down the next day at the actual contest! Here’s highlights from the young guns all the way up through the pro class along with the biggest air contest! Looks like it was a good day to us!
This past weekend, the annual SPoT Roast jam went down at the Skatepark of Tampa in Florida! As always, the night before they throw a bowl jam that is always filled with some dialed riding and good vibes as you can expect when you get a group of BMX riders like this together! The 2nd stop of the Florida BMX Series heads to the Skatepark of Tampa on Saturday, January 10th with the annual Bowl Jam going down Friday, January 9th at 7pm! Registration is now open on the Skatepark of Tampa website! This is bound to be a good time so get to this if you can!
There are two reasons why this video Matt Coplon put together from the Skatepark of Tampa. The first being that there is a ton of real solid footage in this making for a great watch and two being that Matt announced they will be doing the annual SPoT Roast Jam again! Details below!
“From 1991 to 1992, there was a vert ramp jammed in a tiny warehouse in Avon Park (across the street from Tampa Stadium). This was the beginning of Tampa as Vert skating capital of the US. I was 15, and with a group of other riders my age, we’d get our parents to drop us off every Saturday night.
None of us knew how to ride vert, but we’d carve that monster ramp late into the night. It never got old.
Beyond that, all those vert skaters were real cool to us, always down to let us session: Brian Schaefer, Paul Zitzer, Mike Frazier, etc…
A year later, Skatepark of Tampa opened (1993). And from the get go, Schaefer and crew were 100% down with bmx. We’d ride by day, and by night, SPoT would serve as venue for some of the best hardcore/punk shows in the history of this city.
Now, 21 years later, they’re still completely behind us. This coming year will be the 5th annual SPoT Roast. In between, at some point, we’ll be throwing another bowl jam.

The 5th annual Skatepark of Tampa Roast Jam is going down next Saturday, December 14th! This is one event that has grown and become better and better each year, so if you can make it to this one do not miss it!
