Salute To The 4th Contest Flyer

As many of you know, every year we try and throw a big contest here in Minnesota at one of the skateparks. Last year we did two contests, one in the Winter and one on the 4th of July. After the contest on the 4th of July last year, myself and a few other locals and parents at the skatepark ended up forming a non-profit foundation to help repair and expand the local skatepark in Rochester, Minnesota. The Keep Pushing Forward Foundation was founded and we’ve been working toward our goal, which is a massive skatepark. Once again, we have teamed up with the Salute To The 4th event held by The Commission and the city of Rochester to throw another BMX and skate contest. Above is the flyer for the BMX contest that we’ll be throwing with proceeds from the event, plus donations all going toward the Keep Pushing Forward Foundation! We have a TON of great sponsors, so there will be a ton of prizes up for grabs!

The contest will be in a jam format with beginner, intermediate and expert classes. We will also be throwing a Subrosa Street Rail Jam as well! Practice and registration will kick off at 11 AM on July 4th at Silverlake Skatepark! We’ll be starting the Beginner classes (BMX followed by skate) at 1PM, Intermediate (BMX followed by skate) at 2PM, Expert at 4PM and the Street Rail Jam shortly after that wraps up!

The Art of the BMX Sprocket

It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these “The Art Of” pieces, so we figured it would be a good time to take a closer look at one part in particular that we’ve been thinking about lately, the BMX Sprocket. The other day we were bouncing around to a few different brands websites to see if there were any new products or anything else new to see, and we ended up staring at the sprockets. When you think about it, the sprocket is one of those things that can really be altered the most as far as aesthetics go. We’ve seen A LOT of sprockets in BMX’s history, so we decided to stick to sprockets that are currently available. Even with cutting it back to that, there’s still a ton of options available. Add in the different combos between the standard bolt drive, Spline drive, and socket drive, colors, versions with guards, etc. There’s a lot to take in. We bounced around and picked out some of our favorites from a number of brands, which you can check out below with a few words about each! Ready?

Verde – Tony Neyer 2016 Frame Promo

Here’s one that you’re not going to want to pass up! Verde have released Tony Neyer‘s 2016 signature frame promo online for your viewing pleasure. This video, which was filmed before and after his gnarly head injury, is packed full of footage of Tony charging rails and spots like a beast. It’s actually really good to see him wearing a helmet full-time now, because of how wild his riding really is. Everything from the riding to the spots to the film work kicks a ton of ass and this is definitely a MUST SEE.

Verde Bikes X DIG – Panos Manaras Video

If there’s one thing we’ve come to learn about Panos Manaras, it’s that he’s always producing some amazing riding for BMX videos and some how he always ends up with a filmer and editor that knows how to make things look really good. Here’s his latest for Verde that is packed full of amazing riding, dialed spots and some damn good film work. Highly advise you check this one out!

Verde – Mark Martinez: New Young Gun

Verde dropped this new video featuring a new face we’ll be having to keep an eye out for, Mark Martinez! We don’t know much for Mark, but between Tony Neyer vouching for him and this new BMX video… It’s clear to see that he’s an absolute shredder. Watch as he sends it down some BIG drops and stair gaps, and gets some heavy grinds in!

“Mark Martinez might come off as quiet at first but you would quickly find out that he’s louder than ever. Obviously like most people once you get to know them you get to see how they handle them selves when in different situation. I was hurt when I first met him so I only got to hang back and watch him and his homies come down from AZ and kick it with the squad.
