Cult – Crew Freecoaster Hub

September 13, 2017

Cult have released their new Crew Freecoaster hub…

Cult Crew Freecoaster Hub BMX

A few weeks ago Cult released a photo of their new Crew Freecoaster hub that featured a unique looking hub shell that lead us to believe they had been doing some research and development of a new freecoaster system. There was pretty limited details at that point, and we’ve been curious what is going on inside that hub since.

Today we spotted the Crew Freecoaster Hub on the Cult website with a better look at the hub, but still pretty limited details…

“All new design… Black CREW FC hub…

Comes with non drive side Hubguard…

LHD or RHD…”

So, we decided to search around a little more and it looks like this one is just starting to hit shops. The guys at Kunstform in Germany have the hub listed on their website with these details…

“The Cult “Crew” Freecoaster is a stable street freecoaster and was developed and tested together with the the Cult-team. The recent version of the reliable functioning Cult “Crew” Freecoaster is now available as a male version and have a heat treated CrMo 14mm hollow axle and large bearings .
Facts Cult “Crew” Freecoaster

Material:
Shell: 6061-T6 aluminum, 36H
Axle: 14mm Male, hollow, CrMo, heat treated, with 6mm allen key insert
Cones: CrMo, with threat
Nuts: CrMo, for 17mm wrench or nut
Driver: 9T, LHD
Cone: CrMo
Bearing: Sealed bearings
Extras: Variable adjustable gap by adding or removing spacer rings, incl. 1x Non Driver Side Nylon Hubguard
”

What we do know is the hub utilizes a freecoaster design that is different than their Match Freecoaster (which is no longer listed on the Cult website), it comes in black for the only color, right and left side drive, and it even comes with a non-drive side nylon hub guard. It also sounds like it uses spacers to adjust the slack like the Match hub, and most other freecoaster hubs.

UPDATE: We got word from Neal at Cult about what’s going on inside the hub along with a photo of the driver itself…
“We removed the needle bearing in the driver, and the taper roller bearing in the hub shell to keep the price down. We also replaced the old ball spring system with a more durable heavy duty spring and o-ring design.”

What really surprised us is the price. The hub is available for $149.99, which is more affordable than most of the other freecoasters available. You can pick this hub up through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Cult worldwide starting now.

Common Crew – Chris Ambrose 2017 “Come A Long Way”

September 12, 2017

It’s always rad seeing the up and comer, young guns dropping hammers. The Common Crew just dropped this new one featuring Chris Ambrose going to work on spots out in Southern California. Chis might be young, but he’s definitely crushing it with barspins and crankflips on lock. You can definitely see a little Devon Smillie style in this kid. It’s safe to say you will want to keep Chris on your radar!

“BMX – CHRIS AMBROSE 2017: “COME A LONG WAY”
The title says it all. Over the past few months Crankflipper has put in that work. Chris is something special, his drive and dedication for BMX and filming surpasses that of anyone else his age. Definitely get used to hearing his name. Chris is going to be dropping hammers for years to come!

I Got Work Crew Does Sacaton Skatepark

September 12, 2017

It has been a while since we’ve seen a BMX video from the same crew that did “I Got Work” out in Arizona. Here’s a look at a fresh batch of clips the crew stacked during a session at the Sacaton Skatepark. As always, these guys bring a good vibe and plenty of dialed riding. Take a look!

“I Got Work, a BMX video by Ryan Chadwick, came out in 2007 and changed my life. You can watch it by section here: https://vimeo.com/user9097776

This here video features a lot of the original crew:
Spenser Loofa Lee
Sam Buros
Brandon Straub
Pat Burke
Ryan Chadwick
Brad BMX
Eric Bahlman

I took a little snippet of music from the original video for this and its a splash of nostalgia for me. I remember driving out to tempe for the first time in my life to witness the premiere of this video in Kore Bikes garage. These dudes were celebrities to me back then. Now they’re like, 30, old and crusty, and still killing it. Much love dudes.” – Bobby Kanode
