For the last year I’ve been anticipating the release of Deluxe‘s second DVD, Part Deux. There’s something about the trails scene that never fails to leave my mind completely blown. In a BMX bloggers world that’s primarily dominated by videos of people doing barspins, tailwhips and grinds on street or flairs and tuck no hander’s to double barspins at the skatepark, there really never seems to be as much trails footage going around. I have noticed that there has definitely been a little more trails footage surfacing these days, but no where near enough. That’s why I got excited about this DVD. After waiting it out, the DVD was finally released this past week and I’ve finally had the chance to take a look at the video! Here’s what it’s all about…
Review: Santa Barbarians: The Quest for the Holy Rail
A few weeks back, I got an email from Chris Arriaga about a new DVD coming from the crew down in Santa Barbara, California. The title, “Santa Barbarians: The Quest for the Holy Rail” not only is a unique name, but it kind of gave it the feel that this video would be legendary. Since I had a pretty good idea of what the guys in that area are capable of, I was definitely excited to check out the video. It showed up in the mail the other day, so I figured it would be a good idea to toss up a review for you guys to take a peek at. Let’s see what I thought.

Review: Blazeguard DVD
Flash back a little over a year ago when we did an interview with John Thompson about his film work, he talked about a new DVD he had been working on for a while called Blazeguard. This video that was already a year in the making at the time and would be featuring the likes of Kym Grosser, Jason Teet, Jono Hopping, George and Louis Bolter, Jordan Hango, Zac Miner, Jaden Leeming, Travis Sexsmith and a handful of riders based in Australia and Canada.
Between that interview, the trailer and edits, and just what bits John would give up during our conversations in emails and what not, I was really hyped for the video to drop. I knew the video was getting closer and closer to completion and like everything that requires a lot of work, there were set backs that delayed the release.
After a little over two years of filming and editing, the video was finally done and my copy popped up in the mail the other day. So, did it hold up to the hype that I created in my head?

Review: 90East – Sound of the City
If you caught our interview with Lino Gonzalez about the new 90East “Sound of the City” DVD we did a week or so ago, then you probably know what the video is all about and hopefully you already got yourself a copy.
I got my copy the other day and I’ve checked it out a couple times already. I figured I’d toss up a quick review to let you know what I thought of it. So let’s get into this right now!

Insight: Animal PYN Hub Guard
A few weeks back, Animal had released their new PYN hub guard to the public. Over the last few years, a number of hub guards have become available from pretty much every brand with versions being as simple as slipping it on your axle, to ones that fit your drive side, all the way to ones that work completely off compression and remove your hardware completely. Animal took a slightly different route with their guard and took what they knew and liked and created something that definitely gets the job done properly. I recently picked one of these PYN guards up to give a go and decided it would be a good idea to give you guys a closer look at what makes this one stand out. I also stepped it up a bit more and got a Q&A going with Animal’s pro team rider, Mike Brennan and product designers Frank Lam and Jay about the process it took to create the guard. I don’t think you could get any more detail going on this one, so check it!

Review: Odyssey Tomahawk Stem
Flash back a few years and my eyes laid on the Terrible One Cyclops stem. Something about the design left me just drooling. I waited and waited and… well, I heard it’s almost ready now. However, about 9 months back, I caught my first look at Chase Hawk’s signature Odyssey Tomahawk stem. It had a similar look to the Cyclops and offered up some unique features that were similar to the Elementry stem that I was always pretty fond of. I figured it was definitely something I’d like to give a go. So, I ordered one up when it was released and have been giving it a go for about two months now. Let’s take a closer look and find out what I thought.

Review: iPath Grasshopper Vibram
Unless you have been completely out of the loop, a few weeks back iPath started making a few real big moves in their BMX department for 2012. They picked up the BMX shoe guru Brian Osborne and shortly after announced the addition of Van Homan, Seth Kimbrough, Shane Weston and Alex Magallan. Now, unless you just don’t care about BMX, this is a pretty big deal. The brand needed a pretty big change to really start appealing to riders again. Without any doubt, I think they hit things right on the nuts with this crew.
With all of the goodness coming from them, I decided it would probably be a good time to take a closer look at the brands products. In this review, I’ll give you the break down of their Grasshopper Vibram shoe along with some Insight to two other shoes that I’ve been trying out for a few weeks now; the Stash and Iconic.
Let’s jump into this…

Insight: Colony X Vans Shoes
A few months back, there was some talk of a collaboration shoe that Colony was doing with Vans. I mean, the whole thing made sense, but I didn’t know for sure and didn’t really dig too deep into it. Then one day an unexpected box showed up and as soon as I saw that it was from Vans, I knew was going to be in for a treat. Sure enough, I open the box and there’s not one, but two different Colony X Vans shoes inside. I was really stoked on how the shoes turned out and then found out I was to keep things hush hush until closer to the release… over a month away.
After I have been staring and wearing these shoes for a few weeks now, I finally got the okay to let you guys get a closer look at the shoes since both will be available next Thursday (March 1st). I’ve put together a PHOTOGALLERY together with a bunch of photos for you to check out. But before you do that, keep reading to get all the info!
