Scotty Cranmer Progress Update #1

October 17, 2016

Here’s a new update video Big Boy put together giving us some insight into Scotty Cranmer‘s current injury status. This starts out with a little trip out to the Monster Cup races, which is part of why Scotty, Big Boy and Ronnie Surridge made the trip out to Las Vegas in the first place, followed up with an update on Scotty’s current status and then Big Boy packs up his bike to head back to New Jersey. Below you can also find an update for the day after this was filmed after they did the surgery. Expect plenty more updates in the coming days, but it’s all sounding good!

“UPDATE 10/16/16 POST SURGERY:
“Earlier today as doctors did their rounds they informed us that the brain hemorrhage is healing well on it’s own and will not require surgery. R2R is in the hospital with Scotty’s family and we just got this update as Scotty was transferred from the operating room to recovery. The doctor came out and said everything went well regarding stabilizing his spine. The surgeon clarified the injury and said that he has a C4 INCOMPLETE spinal cord contusion. The surgeon also fused C4 and C5 to add stability to the area of injury. Incomplete meaning that he can work hard and fight to fix the damage, but he’s not just going to wake up okay. “It’s really good news. It’s going to be a battle but Scotty can do it! You guys know how much fight and determination he has. He’s got this.” – Scotty’s wife, Lisa Cranmer

With the help of R2R and the case workers of the hospital applications are going out in the morning to secure a top level rehab facility for his injuries. If all goes well Scotty may be transferred before the end of next week. The comments and support from his friends, family and YouTube Subscribers has been overwhelmingly positive. We have shared your comments with Scotty and his family and the support really does make a difference. R2R is also currently working with Scotty’s insurance company to better understand what they will and will not cover. We know already they will not cover his medical transport to rehabilitation and that can be anywhere from $15k to $45k.

R2R will continue to assist the family through this difficult time and prepare them with information and guidance to give Scotty the best possible opportunity available! Your support is greatly needed and appreciated.” – Road 2 Recovery

“It was my last day in Vegas, The entire trip I spent the whole time with Scotty at the hospital with his Wife and Father. Even when I couldn’t see him I would just sit outside the hospital. The only time we would leave was to either go get food or head back to the hotel for some sleep. The guys over at monster convinced me to leave for a couple races at the Monster cup to take my mind off the whole situation. It was worth it a very cool experience and Scotty was right saying its on of the coolest events of the year. Scotty has made incredible progress and is going in for surgery tomorrow morning regarding his spine. He is an amazing individual that is incredibly strong and as long as all of us continue to support him, Scotty will make a full recovery. THIS VIDEO IS UPLOADED A DAY LATE BECAUSE OF TRAVELING.”

Volume Bikes – 3 Days In Vancouver

October 17, 2016

It seems like Vancouver is one of those places that always leads to some amazing riding thanks to what appears to be endless spots. Some of the Volume Bikes crew spent a few days exploring the city, stacking clips on all the spots they came across. They ended up with this banger of a video packed full of amazing riding for your viewing pleasure. Check it out!

“Our guys Mike Mastroni, Josh Clemens, Broc Raiford, Demarcus Paul and our Canadian riders, Owen Dawson, Tristan Sweet and Joel Dykstra did a couple shop stops at 3 Ride and Rock Bay BMX in Canada and on their off time (3 days) they ended up riding some amazing spots and getting a ton of clips. Hard to believe they got this much done in such a short amount of time.

Huge thanks to our Canadian distributor Kill Em All Distro for making it happen. Also thanks to 3 RIDE Vancouver and Rock Bay BMX for having us at their shops.

Filmed & Edited by Mike Mastroni”

A Day with Eric Lichtenberger

October 17, 2016

Going into this one, we almost expected it to be a weird webisode day in the life, then we saw the length and were relieved. Although this one should have been called a part of a day with Eric Lichtenberger due to it getting cut short from a blow out, there’s still a few clips worth checking out. Get on that play button!

“A day called short from a back tire blowout on a epic wall ride 180, Eric L escapes from an almost bad scenario with nothing but a laugh of relief that everything was still in tack. Watch this short edit of a day with one of the pros!”

Urban Noise – BMX Street Riding In Tokyo

October 17, 2016

We’re pretty sure you could drop Devon Smillie, Tyler Fernengel, Bruno Hoffmann, Ollie Shields, Fernando Laczko, and Alex Donnachie just about anywhere and end up with a video packed with dialed riding. A few months back they were in Japan for the G-Shock Real Toughness contest, which we oddly enough haven’t seen much footage from, that left them with plenty of time to go out and cruise the street spots in Tokyo. Here’s a look at a bunch of raw clips. So good.

“With Devon Smillie, Tyler Fernengel, Bruno Hoffman, Ollie Shields, Fernando Laczko, and Alex Donnachie in Tokyo, Japan, for the G-Shock Real Toughness contest a few months back, it would’ve been foolish to squander the opportunity to ride street in one of biggest cites in the world with such an epic crew. So we arranged some local contacts, found a cheap hotel, and stuck around for a few extra days after the contest. Tokyo is so vast, insanely crowded, and security is on it, so riding street is not easy. Fortunately, as far as riding and filming were concerned, there were no sponsor obligations or clip counts to stress—and the sessions that ensued reflected that. The locals fed us a steady diet of predominantly ledge spots—and that was fine with us. The next couple days were super chill, consisting of fun spots, strange food, and more than a few street beers. The only sore spot on the trip was when Alex rolled his ankle on the first day at the first spot. After he did one of the cleanest and lofty uprail-to-hard 360s any of us had ever seen, we knew he was warming up for the hard 540, but he took his ankle out on the next try. Alex had to sit on the sideline for the rest of the trip, but he managed to hobble out every day and kick it with the crew, help film, and consume plenty of Kit Kats and other assorted candies. Meanwhile, local 13-year old Japanese prodigy, Rim Nakamura, subbed-in for a few of the sessions and totally killed it. Which was awesome to see—literally, a kid, just roll right into the session with some of the most bad-ass pros and just start shredding. Thanks to G-Shock, Hiroshi Uehara, Ken Jungnickel, Rim Nakamura, and all the other locals we met along the way.” – Ride BMX

Sneak Peek: Animal Bikes – Benny Peg

October 17, 2016

ben-lewis-signature-bmx-peg-animal-bikes

Here’s a little sneak peek Ben Lewis dropped online giving us a look at his new signature Benny peg from Animal Bikes, along with a look at the Gold color that Mike Hoder‘s signature chain will come in, as well. No details on the pegs, but they appear to be plastic and will have 3 or 4 sizes (we’re guessing 4″, 4.25″ and 4.5″, but we could be wrong). Expect full details soon, since it shouldn’t be long before we see these BMX pegs hitting BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Animal Bikes worldwide.
