The other day it was announced the Jeff DuPaul would be taking over the role of Team Manager for The Take. For those of you firmiliar with either of those names, you would realize they make a pretty good team. I’ve known Jeff for quite a while and I feel like the brand will be making some real big changes with his presence. We decided it would be a good time for an On the Horizon to talk about some of these big changes. So, let’s see what’s going on with The Take…

On the Horizon: Savakas
I was first introduced to Savakas through DIG when Fred posted up a few shots of the shirts they produce. Shortly after, Mark Noble put James Weston (Owner of Savakas) in touch with me. It’s no doubt that I had been interested since the fashion side of BMX has caught my attention quite a bit the last year or so. I was interested what Savakas was all about and I lined up this On the Horizon with James. So, check out what the brand is all about already!
On the Horizon: Etnies
Flash back six or so years ago. Etnies was doing a team tour in their bus that made a stop at Jellystone skatepark in Warrens, Wisconsin. I’m about 15 and running a Macneil Ruben frame, wearing Etnies Ruben shoes, and sitting right next to Ruben Alcantara who is running his signature frame and wearing his signature shoes. I was so amazed that I could barely talk. That, and watching the whole team at that time really impacted me. I wore Etnies for a solid 6 years straight up until the recent chances to mix things up from some support from other brands the last two years. Needless to say, because of Etnies I got the chance to see some of my all time favorite pros ride in person, and that I’ve also been a big fan of the brand for years.
I was thinking that I haven’t bugged John Povah in a while and that made for a perfect excuse for me to find out more about Etnies and his role at the brand as well. So check out what John has to say, some photos of their new line, and then leave some love in the comments.

Chris Long Interview
Chris is another one of those names who has been popping up more and more lately in the filming and editing side of BMX these days. Whether it’s for a Vital exclusive, or a Volume web edit, I never have to question if it’s going to be a quality video to check out. Not only that, his brother is Matty and that should create some sort of fear because of what these two combined can create. I’ve wanted to get this interview for quite a while now, and it’s finally a reality. Check out what Chris has to say and then leave him some love in the comments!

On the Horizon: 1664
I remember when 1664 first started really getting noticed as a parts brand years ago. After a few years it quickly became a a real strong distributor. It’s crazy to think the way BMX brands expand and can change up their priorities or direction so quickly. With that being said, I got to meet Craig and Bernie at Interbike this year. I was interested in what kind of an operation they were running up there in Canada and shot them some questions. Check out what 1664 is all about along with a few pictures…
Greg D’Amico Interview
It’s crazy to think how big BMXfu and the Niagara Street crew has blown up so much in the last few years. They are doing things right. Cory Beal hit me up about doing an interview with Greg a little while ago, and it finally got put together. Check out what Greg has to say, some real good photos by Scott Barker, and his Futu part. Then go leave him some of your thoughts in the comments…

Erik Elstran Interview
The first time I met Erik, it was at a session at the now closed Renegade skatepark here in Minnesota. My jaw hit the floor… literally. I was blown away by the weird tricks he was doing all over the place. Fakies across the park to half body varials out. I just sat there and stared the majority of the time. We talked about doing an interview, and for some reason or another it ended up taking a really long time to pull everything together. It worked out great though, because now he has a BRAND NEW edit that I know will blow minds to go with this. So check out some of the very entertaining responses Erik has, some good photos, the edit, and then leave him some love in the comments! All photos by Ryan Mense!
“What I’ve done here is successfully perform the meticulous task of blacking out an etch-a-sketch with vertical lines. When you do this you can see a metal cross hair and this cute little drawing pad’s magic evaporates. If you don’t believe me try the experiment for yourselves; it’s an excellent usage of time.”

Andre Gonzalez Interview
I can’t remember the first time I heard of Andre, or the SBL crew. I know it was for a video of theirs on The Come Up or another site. Long story short, Andre emailed me one of his latest edits when I was helping out Adam, and figured he might have something interesting to say. I shot him some questions, and he shot me back some answers. Check out what Andre has to say, watch some of his edits, and then leave him some love in the comments!
