Nowear – Dan Nielsen Signature Beast Mode Frame

June 19, 2019

Nowear BMX Dan Nielsen Signature Beast Mode BMX frame

Get a look at the Dan Nielsen signature Beast Mode frame from Nowear BMX!

Over the past couple years, Nowear have offered their Mike DiNello Signature Frame that definitely turned a lot of peoples heads when it was intitially released because in all reality, it looks nothing like 99% of BMX frames available these days. That frame had gone on to sell really well, and I’ve personally seen more than 100 out in the wild at contests and jams since its been released.

Today, Nowear hit us up to let us know they’re now releasing a second version that will be the Dan Nielsen signature Beast Mode frame that takes a lot of the features that the DiNello frame offers, but something that’ll fit Dan’s taller height and make it more ideal for hucking flips on ramps and crushing it out in the streets. Anyone that has caught a session with Dan knows that he absolutely SHREDS on a BMX bike and sends real gnarly stuff all the time. Dan definitely deserves this signature frame, that’s for sure.

Nowear BMX Dan Nielsen Signature Beast Mode BMX frame

The Beast Mode frame is made here in the United States by Dave Harrison over at Pedal Driven Cycles from full 4130 chromoly tubing with a 75.75-degree head tube angle, 72-degree seat tube angle, 9″ standover height, 11.6″ bottom bracket height, 13.25″ chainstay length (Slammed) and a 21″ top tube length giving you plenty of room to crank tables and turndowns or stretch a big can-can. The frame features that “Virtual Top Tube” design that really opens things up for those tricks as well. You can find an integrated head tube, Mid bottom bracket, your choice of removable brake mounts, welded brake mounts or a completely brakeless option.

You can pre-order one of the frames now for $469 – $489 in the Nowear webstore. The frame is available in Midnight Blue and Nuclear Translucent Green, but if you pay in full on the pre-order you can do any color you want! The frame weighs in at a lightweight 4.9 lbs. with the brake mounts.

Learn more about the new Beast Mode frame from Nowear below…

“Nowear believes in making the highest quality parts while supporting local and American jobs. These frames are manufactured in Georgia, then painted and stickered in Nebraska.

This frame is a great combination of being both responsive and roomy, allowing you to blast the big double full speed, and still crank the bike hard for that turndown or tabletop!

The virtual top tube design allows extra-foot clearance making countless tricks easier, and the impossible tricks, possible! You’d be surprised how much smoother and further you can take tables, turndowns, look-backs, any can combo etc when you have the extra room.
The slightly steeper head tube helps responsiveness and lessens the force on the front end helping strengthen the frame.

We offer our brake models with removable gyro tabs, welded single cable guides & welded chain stay 990 mounts so the braking force goes towards the tubing, rather than pulling it away. This also lets the cable travel a shorter & straighter distance making it pull more freely. It’s all about dialing-in your brakes to perfection.

We wanted every little detail to be special right down to the stickers! Dan’s nick name, “Danimal” has always had a super hero feel and he has earned that reputation for always going so darn big!

The model name shown one the head badge is one of Dan’s favorite sayings for when you go big, you’re going “Beast Mode!” This design was hand-drawn by fellow Pusher BMX Shop rider, Preston Solis.

The Paw print displayed in the middle is showing love for Dan’s best friend, his dog “Zor” (Rest in Peace)
The sticker kit was designed by friend and designer Tasha Lindemann “TJL Designs”

Sneak Peek: Pedal Driven Cycles – 22″ Operator Frame

June 5, 2019

Pedal Driven Cycles 22" Operator BMX Frame

Although 22″ bikes have been around for 15+ years, we’ve been seeing a big increase in the options available the past few years. Here’s a sneak peek look at a new frame option that’ll be dropping this summer from Dave Harrison at Pedal Driven Cycles. Dave has been working with Matt Stahl to create a frame that is built for the technical ramp riding style rider that wants to run the 22″ size. The Operator 22″ Frame has a 75-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 9.5″ standover height, 12″ bottom bracket height and a 13.8″ chainstay length (slammed). The frame features a long tapered integrated head tube, top and downtube gussets with laser cut logos, a double butted top tube, straight gauge down tube, a single butted seat tube, an externally machined Mid bottom bracket, low profile chainstays with plenty of clearance for 2.40″ tires and 30-tooth sprockets, and welded seat stay brakes with drilled guides or completely brakeless if you prefer that route.

The 22″ Operator frame will be available in 21.75″ and 22.75″ top tube lengths with Sea Foam Green and Claret (appears to be a dark red / brown color) for the color options and a weight of 5.05 lbs on the 22.75″ size. No word on price, but we’ll let you know when that information is available. Until then, you can learn more about this frame project on the Pedal Driven Cycles website!

Pedal Driven Cycles 22" Operator BMX Frame

Here’s a few words from Matt that lead to his signature 22″ Operator frame happening…

“I have been riding these bikes for a long time and always felt something was a little off. I was never able to put my finger on it. When Dave asked me to ride for PDC and told me he wanted to do a frame for me I was blown away. My current set up is a custom he made for me and I felt that It had some of the same issues my previous bikes had. I wanted to address those issues and make a frame that was designed for my more tech riding style. The group of guys we gathered to help on this project have been a huge help every step of the way. Getting input from an outside source is always valuable.” – Matt Stahl

Sneak Peek: Hoffman Bikes – Big Daddy 2019 Reissue

May 13, 2019

Hoffman Bikes Big Daddy frame

The Hoffman Bikes Big Daddy frame is coming back! Last year during the X Games, a group of us were hanging out and Mat Hoffman talked about his plans with Hoffman Bikes now that he has full control of the brand once again. One of the things he mentioned was that he planned to do some reissues of some of the classic Hoffman Bikes products! Today we spotted the Big Daddy Frame over on the Hell On Wheels Instagram to announce that they’re taking pre-orders for the frame, and we would imagine plenty of other shops will be doing the same here soon.

The Big Daddy frame is made from full 4130 chromoly tubing with a 75-degree head tube angle, 70-degree seat tube angle, 11.8″ bottom bracket height, 8″ standover height and a 13.4″ – 14.2″ chainstay length. The frame features an integrated headtube, a big gusset on the down tube, the classic seat stays that wrap around to the top tube, a Mid bottom bracket, CNC machined and heat-treated 14mm dropouts and removable brake mounts. The Big Daddy frame will be available in 19.5″ and 20.5″ top tube lengths with colors of Black, Raw and Chrome with two sticker kits.

This frame was originally designed by Kevin Jones back in 1993 and it revolutionized flatland frames. Now, in 2019 Kevin has has say in this frame as well as doing all the testing. That’s beyond awesome to see! Here’s a few words about that from the Hell On Wheels website…

“For a little history lesson the original Big Daddy frame was legendary flatlander Kevin Jones’s signature frame and Kevin has been heavily involved with the reissue, see below for a pic of Kevin testing one of the prototypes. Kevin Jones is credited as the innovator of modern day flatland riding. His exploits have been well documented in the ‘Dorkin’ In York’ video series, and his influence on flatland is worldwide. He was the first flatland rider to be added onto the Hoffman Bikes team at its inception. In 1993, Jones designed the signature Big Daddy frame for Hoffman Bikes. The frame revolutionised modern flatland, and is still a sought after bike many years later.” – Hell On Wheels
