Profile Racing – Mini Front Hub Assembly

April 19, 2017

Take a look at how a Profile Racing Mini front hub goes together!

Have you ever wondered how the Profile Racing Mini front hub goes together? Here’s a short but sweet video where Gus quickly puts together one of these hubs for your viewing pleasure. It’s pretty basic and goes together A LOT faster with the help of a press, but it’s still worth a look. Hit that play button and take a look at how it all works from the first bearing going in to the bolts to keep it all tight!

“Profile’s Gus Lanzilotta walks you through a complete build on a Front Profile Mini Hub (same application applies to a Profile Elite and Madera Pilot Front Hub).

We hope this helps.”

Dan Foley – Cassette VS Freecoaster

April 4, 2017

The battle between Cassette Hubs and Freecoaster Hubs continues!

Dan Foley has released a new video and he has decided to sit down and talk about the Cassette VS Freecoaster battle. Dan has ran both styles of hubs, but recently made the switch back to cassettes. In this video, Dan talks about the pros and cons of both hubs, along with some reasoning behind why he has chosen to ride a cassette hub again. There’s also some riding footage Dan included from both types of hubs that he has ran, which is a bonus since they’re real solid clips. Take a peek!

What’s your thoughts on the subject? Let us know in the comments below!

“With the rising popularity of freecoaster hubs, it’s become harder than ever to decide what kind of hub setup to ride. After dabbling with a coaster for 6 months and switching back to a cassette, I figured it would be a good time to put my 2 cents in and hopefully shed some light on each hub type.”

Profile Racing – Tech Tip: Difference Between Mini and Elite Drivers

March 17, 2017

Profile Racing Mini BMX Hub Gold

By now, you’re well aware of Profile Racing‘s classic Mini hubs and their Elite hub that would attract a swarm of bees from the sound. What you probably don’t know is that Profile Racing were the first to engineer a cassette hub for BMX, which ultimately allowed for all of us to run a 9 or 10-tooth driver on the majority of rear wheels today. What you might not know is what the difference is between the drive the Mini hub uses and the driver that the Elite hub uses. The difference is 156 points of engagements and two more pawls. For their latest Tech Tip, Profile have decided to explain the differences and talk about how the pawls are different for each driver. This is a pretty interesting piece to check out if you’re a product or design nerd. Take a peek at it all right here — Tech Tip: What Drives You

Kink BMX East Coaster DTC Freecoaster Hub

If you caught the new Kink 2017 Frames and Parts Catalog, you might have noticed the updated version of their East Coaster freecoaster hub that has been available for a while now. The East Coaster DTC freecoaster starts out with a 6061-T6 aluminum shell with 60002-2RS sealed cartridge and 7905 Angular Contact sealed catridge bearings for additional side load support and a heat-treated 14mm hollow chromoly axle inside. What’s new on this hub versus the original is the new Dual Threaded Clutch (DTC) that allows left or right side drivers to be installed without having to open the hub or replace the clutch. If you want to go from Right to Left side drive, you simply switch out the driver and that’s it. If you look closely at the Clutch pictured above, you can see they have threads going in both directions criss-crossing, which allows for both drivers to work.

The DTC Freecoaster is also compatible with Kink’s Rear Nylon hub guard and Universal Drive Side hub guard, so you can protect your hub and spokes from grinds on both sides.

You can pick up the East Coaster DTC freecoaster in matte black, matte Nightshade and Silver with a weight of 24 oz., right or left side drive for $129.99 through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Kink BMX worldwide now.

You can purchase a replacement East Coaster DTC clutch for $24.99 and a driver for $59.95 if you wanted to switch from right to left or vice versa.
