Mutiny X DIG – Jeff Wescott 2016 Video

July 22, 2016

Mutiny Bikes and DIG teamed up to bring you a fresh new BMX video out of Jeff Wescott! Jeff turns up the heat in sunny San Diego for this one bringing his fast paced style to plenty of unique street spots. This has a good mix of grinds and some burlier roof drops, keeping things interesting from start to finish. Oh, and the film work is damn good, too!

“Jeff Wescott resides in the extra spicy hot Southwest slice of Arizona, down in Phoenix, where most of the time it is quite difficult to ride outside because of the sheer heat during the days and nights. This time around Jeff took it upon himself to head to sunny San Diego, California to find some new spots and enjoy that beach breeze in between clips. Jeff links up with Christian Rigal on 8 visits after work at his day job to enjoy the cooler side of summer. This video brought to you by Mutiny Bikes and DIG has 3 plus minutes of smooth crispy footage that is a treat to sit back and enjoy!

Profile Racing X DIG – Slaughterhouse

July 21, 2016

The latest in the Profile Racing X DIG DIY Series takes us into the Slaughterhouse for a session. This spot might be tucked away and hidden a little bit, but what’s hiding inside is amazing. This place looks like a super good time to ride and there was a bunch of damn good riding that went down during the session! Take a peek!

“Over the course of several sessions, we did our best to document one of the most unique DIY setups in the state of Florida.
Coming out of urban legend, on each visit the Slaughterhouse slowly revealed itself: On our final session we interviewed a squatter living in one of several compartmentalized rooms, honey-combed into this century old warehouse. From his stories, we had finally gotten the true history of the dilapidated old building…and then two weeks later, the Slaughterhouse burnt to the ground.

This is a celebration and memorial to the SL, Profile’s 4th DIY documentary for the 2016 series.
Thanks to Colin Jensen, Brad Campo, and Ben Meyer for the hospitality.
And to Mike Waling for creating, what will forever remain, an Urban, DIY legend.

Profile riders include Kent Pearson, Mark Mulville, and Chad Degroot.

Enjoy.

Lost In Transition – The Search For The Death Bowl

July 18, 2016

DIG coming through with a phenomenal video documenting the trip Greg Illingworth and Kevin Kalkoff took to Japan to search out the legendary Death Bowl! This video spans the course of a few days telling the story, leading up to one hell of a session! Highly, HIGHLY advise you give this a watch!

“Sometimes the greatest adventures are a blast into the unknown and when Greg Illingworth and Kevin Kalkoff set out to find the long lost Death Bowl on a four day mission from mainland Japan all the way to the island of Hokkaido, no one knew what the outcome would be. What ensued was a terrifying ferry crossing, driving around the clock and the complete lack of certainty of the outcome. Needless to say things didn’t go quite according to plan at the beginning of the trip but would they be able to scrape it back and get to ride the mysterious transitions they put so much effort into finding? Special thanks from DIG to Monster Energy for helping to make this happen, Vans with their support for the video, Eriko and Kaku at Wheelies bike shop, and Ryan Corrigan and Leigh Ramsdell. For the full story and extended photo feature by George Marshall check out our one-off limited edition publication DIG Magazine Issue 99.5.” – DIG

Dan Norvell – A DIG Dozen

July 7, 2016

You cannot go wrong with some fresh Dan Norvell footage! Here’s 12 fresh clips courtesy of DIG where Dan goes to work on street spots, trails and a pool. As expected, Dan brings some really gnarly riding to the table and makes it look like it’s easy. Take a look at what went down!

“Our new series A DIG Dozen starts off with Southern California’s Dan Norvell who shows that he’s more than capable of riding whatever is around to shred, whether it be a drained pool, sizable set of trails, or rooftop street spot. Handplants. hangers, backwards kinkers, kickflip firecrackers… Dan squeezes a whole lot into his allotted dozen!

In the Cut – Chocolate Truck Philly BMX Jam 2016

July 5, 2016

You know you’re in for a good time when the Chocolate Truck crew throw a jam. Here’s a look at what went down during a full day of riding, giveaways and good times around Philadelphia!

“We followed the The Chocolate Truck crew around during their first official street jam last weekend in Philadelphia. Instead of the typical Center City jaunt, everyone met up at the infamous 9th and Poplar DIY spot, and then followed the El tracks up to spots throughout the rough-around-the-edges North Philly, and even got a cake to celebrate the birthdays of Capone, Steve Tassone and Ryan Niranonta. Sit back and enjoy a glimpse into all the wildness that went down.” – DIG

Ruben Alcantara’s Etnies “Forward” & “Grounded” Sections Remastered

June 28, 2016

Ruben Alcantara – Etnies “Grounded”

Ruben Alcantara has been my favorite rider since I first got into BMX some 17ish years ago. The first time I met him, I was the mega fan with his signature Ruben frame from Macneil and his signature Ruben shoes from Etnies. Today, DIG re-released Ruben’s sections from Etnies “Grounded” that came out in 2008, and “Forward” that came out in 2002 for your viewing pleasure in a re-mastered, higher quality than what’s bene floating online for years. This is a reminder as to why he’s a personal favorite of mine and so many around the world. Hit play on both sections and enjoy the gold!

“Grounded was released in 2008 to much anticipation after Etnies previously praised video. After years of filming, the video was delivered to audiences with Ruben being granted the last section again. In six years Ruben’s riding had progressed in a way that seemed unattainable at first but looking at his past only seemed natural. His pursuit of street transitions and banks continuing in full force gave a new meaning to “gap to wallride” throughout his part. Through Ruben’s riding he brought his question of “You’ll never know” until you try to the table with setups and tricks and few if any would think possible.”

Ruben Alcantara – Etnies “Forward”

“Forward was released in 2002 on VHS and DVD with Ruben closing out the video with the final section. A mix of skatepark and street footage, Ruben always managed to find something to blast or get technical on. From massive ditch quarter pipe hips, to wallrides, to fakie smith half-cab tabletops, he was innovating and progressing BMX with each session. His video part gave BMX the beginning taste of where his riding style was going and his conscious effort that less is more.”

Dave Voelker Podcast

June 26, 2016

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/270001622″ params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”600″ iframe=”true” /]

The latest Snakebite X DIG podcast features the one and only Dave Voelker! This starts out with a little story on his blown out knee to a lot of history and more. If you have an hour and a half to spare, this is definitely one to listen in on!

“One day late in 2015, and after BBQing and riding the legendary Dave Volekers’ backyard ramp in his hometown of San Diego for about an hour, I sat down with him and pressed record for this latest DIG X Snakebite podcast. We discussed the worlds first ever street contest, his Dyno days, coming out of retirement to ride in the X Games, caring more about true soul riding more than competing, and so much more. Dave’s true passion for riding has always seemed shine through since his first legendary video and magazine appearances in the eighties right through to today, and I felt so privileged to share the stories some of those experiences first-hand with Lord Voelker himself!” – Shad Johnson
