Check out what went down during the Street contest at this years Ghetto Games!

The annual Ghetto Games contest went off this past weekend over in Latvia and there was no shortage of amazing riding and good times going down. Above is a video Freedom BMX put together giving us a look at all the action that went down in the BMX Street contest. Check it!

“The street contest at the Ghetto Games was held on a street next to Ventspils concrete park. For the fact that the whole thing had an undeniable village character character, not many spectators were present and the course consisted of transportable obstacles, the starting field was surprisingly well staffed. Among others, Felix Prangenberg, Eddie Baum and Bruno Hoffmann were at the start, but unfortunately the latter preferred not to ride because of injury. In addition to heaps of really good locals were also the Russian Edeltechniker Igor Bespaliy, Reed Stark from the United States and the Argentine Mati Lasgoity come to Latvia, so it was quite international. It’s that time of the year again for the annual GGFEST!

If you’re looking for a good time in Latvia this summer, the annual GGFest is the place to be! This years event is going down July 27th – 29th with Park, Street and Dirt contests, bringing out some of the top riders from Latvia and from around the world. Get more details below!

“GGFEST is a wild action sports festival by the Baltic Sea in Latvia. The BMX side of things is organized by the riders for the riders and everyone who’s ever attended will confirm that this is as authentic of a BMX vibe as you can get these days. For 2018 the dates are set for July 27-29. Everyone is welcome to join riders from all over in the small and welcoming town of Ventspils, Latvia to celebrate what we all love about BMX!

The annual GGFest AKA Ghetto Games are going down in Latvia once again at the end of July! Hit play to check out some highlights from last year and then get the full scoop below! This is bound to be a damn good time!

“In a modern day world entertainment has peaked to such hights that riders have to perform circus trickery on ramps built to send one to the moon while doing a quad backflip.

At this point an event like GGFEST is a breath of fresh air. We take it back to the good ol’ days when contests were actually fun. It started with kids building plywood ramps and dirt jumps in their backyard and that’s what it still is in a way. The spirit of actual BMX freestyle is alive and well at the Ghetto Games festival in Latvia!

The Ultimate Ghetto Games Compilation

Get a look at highlights from this years Ghetto Games out in Latvia in this new edit from Epic TV! Tons of real good riding from riders from all over the world.

“Ventspils, Latvia is generally not an epicenter for BMX but once a year this small city turns into one big BMX party during the Ghetto Games. What started as a sports festival for the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) has become an international bash for all different types of athletes. This year in the BMX event Local shredders like Viktors Kronbergs and Oskars Zajarskis were joined by pros like Brad Simms and the BSD crew. Riders from more than 13 countries were in attendance and the crowd was loving every single one of them. Huge tricks were thrown down including a world first in a competition by none other than Andres Lainevool. ‘A lot of my friends were talking about the Ghetto Games and how cool the contest and everything around it was,’ says filmmaker Philip Kölsch who captured the whole weekend on his Canon 5D MK3 with three different lenses (a Canon 70-200mm IS, a Tokina 11-16 mm, and a Canon 24-105mm IS) and even a couple of quick shots using a hexadrone. ‘I wanted to check it out myself and capture it for everyone who couldn’t be there. The only tough part about shooting was the Latvian parties and their side effects!”
