Nike Shuts Down Europe BMX Team

June 1, 2018

It’s not just Kriss Kyle, the entire European BMX team for Nike has been let go…

Earlier today we caught wind that Kriss Kyle was off Nike, now it looks like the entire BMX program for Nike Europe is done according to Freedom BMX in Germany. That means Simone Barraco, Kriss Kyle, Alex Kennedy, Felix Prangenberg, Daniel Tünte and Moritz Nussbaumer will all be looking for some new shoes to wear when riding in the future. We’ve been hearing rumors that Nike is letting go their entire BMX program, but we haven’t seen anything from Dennis Enarson, Chad Kerley, Garrett Reynolds or Nigel Sylvester as of right now. Either way, it’s a bummer to see a big brand like Nike step away from BMX in Europe.

aaand its over..after 10 amazin years riding for @nike ! forever thankful to #nikebmx @achimkujawski n the all team u are the best ? #bmx

A post shared by Simone Barraco (@simobarraco) on Jun 1, 2018 at 5:05am PDT

from today on I’ll no longer be riding for @nike // I can’t thank them and especially @achimkujawski enough for everything they did for me over the past 10 years?? It was a good time but sadly everything comes to an end at some point. On to the next chapter!

Here’s a bit of surprising news that popped up! Kriss Kyle has announced that he is no longer riding for Nike today on his Instagram. No word on what the reason was, but it looks like it was on good terms. We’ve heard a few rumors floating around about Nike over the past few months, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Until then, any ideas where Kriss might end up with for a shoe sponsor? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Unit 23 Skatepark – Jingle Buels Jam 2017

December 21, 2017

Check out what went down at the Jingle Buels Jam at Unit 23 Skatepark in Glasgow!

Whenever Unit 23 Skatepark throws a jam, you know it’s going to be a wild one! Here’s some highlights from the Jingle Buels Jam that went down the other weekend. As expected, it was a packed house and a ton of great riding went down from locals to the Pros like Kriss Kyle. Hit play and take it all in!

“It’s been a while since we’ve seen a jam at our local Unit 23 skatepark in Glasgow, Scotland but Chaz Mailey and the crew there thought it was about time to get everyone together again. The invites were sent, Bucky put on ice and the big bowl in Hall 1 was the venue. Sit back and enjoy a whole load of roasting from the likes of Kriss Kyle, Chaz and Connor Mailey, young Kieran Reilly and more.

“Having not put on a BMX event at Unit23 for a minute or two, we decided to have a bowl jam to end the year. What started as a little ‘friends only’ bowl session, soon turned into a bit of a jam, with speakers, flyers, prizes and Bucky. It’s cool to see the BMX world come together and make things like this happen, even north of the north. We’d like to thank our sponsors for helping us put this little jam together, BSD, Source, DIG, Endless & Seventies. A special thanks goes out to Jimmy’s Iced Coffee for being so down to help out, and a massive thanks to everyone that showed up and made it such a rad time! Here’s to next year! Here we go.” – Chaz Mailey / Unit 23

Kriss Kyle On Specialized UK For MTB

December 5, 2017

It looks like Kriss Kyle is the latest rider to split up his riding between BMX and the bigger bikes. He’s now on Specialized UK for MTB!

If you follow Kriss Kyle on Instagram, this might not be a huge surprise, but it looks like it’s offical… Kriss is joining the likes of guys like Ryan Nyquist and Drew Bezanson who have doubled up their action to ride BMX and MTB professionally. Above is his first video for Specialized that undoubtedly turned out rad. Of course Kriss will continue to crush it for BSD on his BMX bike, but he’ll be splitting up time to ride the 29″ wheels, too.

Cover photo: Andrew Richardson

“Eleven years of dedication to one wheel size is something to be applauded. Traveling around the world to some of the best spots and sending tricks never seen before. That’s another. But jumping off a 20” BMX, onto a 29er and having the skill to pin those same tricks? That takes some serious balls.
