What were you doing 50 years ago? It’s safe to say the majority of you reading this right now weren’t in existence and probably wouldn’t be for a number of years. On this day 50 years ago Dennis McCoy was born and it started a road to a very long, very amazing BMX career that is still chugging along! Mat Hoffman put together this rad little video to say Happy Birthday with footage that spans most of his career and even a few before he ever started his Pro career. Hit play and enjoy! Happy Birthday, DMC!
We’re not sure how many times Mat Hoffman has been told he will never ride a bike again in his lifetime, but so far those doctors have been wrong and we’re more than stoked on that. Mat just dropped a compilation of footage he collected from some of his backyard ramp sessions that he has been getting in this year, along with a few random clips from Woodward’s Mega Ramp and a few other ramps. This video is loaded up with a TON of different trick combos (Not to mention a bunch Mat invented over the years) with helmet cam and second angles mixed in. We got some good laughs out of the commentary, too… Mat literally calls himself out on a few of the tricks mid-air. This kicks a lot of ass, so hit play and check it out!

We always love hearing Mat Hoffman stories. The crew at Vice Sports caught up with Mat to talk about a bunch of his different injuries like shattering his shoulder on theSecret Ninja Big Air Ramp, the off the record Lars Ligament surgery, a time the rails on his seat blew threw his nut sack and more. This is hilarious and amazing. Check it out!
“Mat Hoffman is considered to be one of the best vertical ramp riders in the history of BMX and the creator of big air. Throughout his 36 year career as a BMX rider, he’s faced serious injuries and near death experiences.”
The Hoffman Bikes team have been bouncing around to different shops this summer doing some demos and hanging out with the locals. Here’s a look at what went down during the jam that went down at the Quickie Mart in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It looks like there was a big turn out and some real good riding went down.

In a world of GoPro POV videos from nibbler jibbler street videos and skatepark sessions, it’s always rad to see something really crazy from somebody’s point of view. Last year we caught up with Mat Hoffman for an interview where we first found out about the massive ramp that Danny Way had built and Mat was riding, and calling the Secret Ninja Big Air Ramp. Since that day we’ve been anxiously waiting to see the footage from it. Thanks to X Games, we’ve been seeing some of the footage over the course of the week. Below you can find links to the 3 videos they released.
We figured that was all the footage from it… Then this morning we woke up to an email from the Condor himself with a link to a video he put together from some of the GoPro footage he collected during his sessions. This has footage from some of the first runs all the way up until the crash that obliterated his collarbone. Needless to say, after watching this we’re still completely blown away by just how big Mat has gone! This is an absolute MUST SEE. The big brother of the Secret Ninja Ramp is an absolute monster of a ramp.

“Here is my DIY edit I made riding Danny’s ramp. No interviews, I used a POV and then placed a few unmanned GoPro’s around and let them shoot continuously while I rode. This is my original edit I’ve been holding onto for about a year. It’s not the best quality; I just shot it to document the ride, since I went out their solo. Then Stew and Alyssa added to it for the recent posts on X Games, so I’ve kept this one out of sight until now.

The third part for “The Quest For High Air” series is now online! The other days we got Mat Hoffman‘s perspective ( WATCH: Mat Hoffman – The Quest For High Air ), then yesterday we got Danny Way’s perspective ( WATCH: Danny Way – The Quest For High Air ). Today, we get Mat and Danny together talking about the big ramp and what motivated them to give it a go and to keep pushing each other to new limits. This is absolutely amazing.
Yesterday we got Mat Hoffman‘s section for The Quest For Big Air from X Games (Watch: Mat Hoffman – The Quest For High Air ). Now today we get skateboarder Danny Way’s perspective on the ramp and how much influence Mat had on the project. This is nothing short of absolutely mind blowing. Both of these guys are crazy!
“In 2015, skateboarder Danny Way constructed a new ramp in his lifelong search for high air on a skateboard. When it was finished, Way invited BMX legend Mat Hoffman out to test the new ramp. This is Way’s account.”
