Mutant Bikes have added Erik Figar to their line up over in Slovakia through Junk Ride Shop! To celebrate, Erik put together a brand new Mutant Bikes Tizona setup decked out top to bottom in Mutant Bikes parts. Check out this video of Erik building up the bike, then a bunch of riding clips from his local park! “We made new Mutantbikes BMX machine fore Erik Figar for season 2018. New BMX is fresh with brand new components and with some old parts (like hubs) which are still going good. BMX was built up in Junkride Freestyle Park Šurany showroom and then we hit quick filming session and here is video bike check.
BMX is built on Mutantbikes TIZONA V2 frame, Corvo fork and new LRA2 9″ handlebars. Bike is nice black with blue topload stem, blue grips, hubs and new extra wide Caravella 28 teeth sprocket. Very unique are BIONIC cranks with interesting system.”” – Mutant Bikes

Sneak Peek: Mutant Bikes – Estrela Full Guard Sprocket

Here’s a little sneak peek look at the the Estrela full guard sprocket that Mutant Bikes are working on down in Portugal. This BMX sprocket is CNC machined to have a unique 5 spoke design that lets you rotate to 5 different bolt holes to get the most wear out of it. These photos are fresh out of the machine, so there will be some touch up and a coat of paint. What’s unique is that the sprocket will come in a 26-tooth size, as well as 28-tooth. We’ll keep you posted when it is available! Until then, get a few more details and more photos below!

Mutant Bikes – Takato Ueda Video

Mutant Bikes connect over in Japan, Takato Ueda, coming through with a fresh new video filled with clips from street sessions between 2015 and 2016. Takato is one of few riders that runs brakes and a freecoaster and we’re stoked on that. Plenty of grinds, manuals, style and buttery smooth lines in this one! Interbike 2016 – Mutant Bikes

Next up, we caught up with our friends from Portugal, Mutant Bikes to take a look at a few of the items they had on display at the QBMX booth at Interbike 2016!

The Bionic cranks which feature a unique 2.5-piece system where the splines meet in the middle of the bottom bracket with one long bolt to keep it tight.

Fluted peg with the Owl V4 front hub.

A look at the Fluted peg cut in half. You can see the ridges and how the female axle sits on the peg.

Kind of hard to see the hub guard, but the point of this photo is to show that it fits over the existing hardware.

The Owl hub features a unique “Fe-Male” axle that has a male end that fits into the dropout, with the female bolt going through that giving it extra strength than just a single bolt on the dropout.

The Peguard peg cut in half to show you how the metal and plastic sleeve fit, and how thick the integrated hub guard is!

The Estrella full-guard sprocket comes in 26 and 28-tooth sizes.

Carvella V2 sprocket.available in 26, 28 and 30-tooth sizes.

The new LRA 4 bars, 9″ rise, 29.5″ width, 12-degrees of backsweep and 2-degrees of upsweep. Features a unique cross bar to give it extra strength. Also available in a 2-piece version and colors of black and chrome.

So, that’s what Mutant Bikes had on display at Interbike 2016! There are a few more items that we’ll be giving you a look at in the near future, so keep an eye on the site for that.

Daniel Penafiel Bike Check

It’s been a little while since we’ve caught up with Daniel Penafiel, so we figured it would be a good time to hit him up and see what was new. It turns out that he just built up a brand new bike decked out with a ton of prototype parts from Mutant Bikes including the latest version of his signature Tizona frame and bars. We figured that was a perfect excuse to do a brand new Bike Check to take a closer look at his current bike and find out what else is new with him! Ready? Let’s do this!
