Product: Huffy Sledgehammer Frame

September 24, 2025

Huffy have released their new Sledgehammer frame.

Huffy Sledgehammer BMX frame

Over the past year or so, we’ve been seeing news about Huffy popping up from adding guys like Nick Bruce, Jacob Thiem and Huck Kurinsky to their freestyle program. At the time, we just figured it would be more of a branding / marketing thing versus actual product designed for their level of riding being produced. Then a few weeks back we got a look at the Jacob Thiem Bike Check that Dan’s Comp released where Jacob gave a look at a new frame that Huffy was working on. At the time Jacob wasn’t able to give much detail on the frame, so it sounded like it was a ways out. Well, it wasn’t as far out as we expected.

The Huffy Sledgehammer frame was released this week, and it’s looking solid. The frame is made with 100% 4130 chromoly tubing, with a 75.2-degree head tube angle, 72-degree seat tube angle, 10.4″ (18″ frame) or 11.5″ standover height (20.6 or 20.9) and 12.2″ (18″) or 13.2″ – 13.5″ (20.6 / 20.9″) chainstay length. The Sledgehammer frame has 6mm dropouts with integrated chain tensioners, a debossed logo on the seat tube, and some unique tubing that allowed them to eliminate gussets without sacrificing the strength.

As we mentioned above, the frame is available in 18″, 20.6″ and 20.9″ sizes, with colors of Dynamite Black and Rico Blue for $349. You can check out more photos and a video on the frame over on the Huffy Website if you are looking for more details.

USA Cycling released a video giving us a look at what the crazy BMX Freestyle Training Facility that Nick Bruce, Hannah Roberts, Angie Marino, Justin Dowell, Marcus Christopher, Perris Benegas and Coach Ryan Nyquist have been using to get ready. This MASSIVE warehouse is packed with a ton of huge ramps, and it’s safe to say this setup is on a whole different level. It’s wild to see the support that they are getting for the Olympics when it wasn’t that long ago that freestyle BMX wasn’t even a sport considered for the Olympics. Take a look!

“USA Cycling unveiled a revolutionary BMX Freestyle Training Facility in South Jordan, Utah. This state-of-the-art venue, which has been under wraps until July, marks a significant milestone in Team USA’s preparation for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

It’s hard to say though, with Nick making it into the Olympics for Team USA we’re sure he has been getting some interesting offers from all over! June 10, 2021

Team USA Freestyle BMX team Olympics

After what has been over 2 or so years in the making thanks to COVID, the Team USA Olympic Freestyle BMX Team has been announced. Since the United States are the points leader going into Tokyo in both Mens and Womens standings, they get to send two riders. Based on their own internal points system, they’ve gone with Perris Benegas and Hannah Roberts for the Women’s team, and Justin Dowell and Nick Bruce for the Men’s team! If you have been following along these picks shouldn’t be a HUGE surprise, but the Men’s was going to be a toss up between a few riders. Expect to see all four of these riders holding it down for Team USA over in Tokyo this summer.
