Red Bull – Colombian BMX Twins In The Big League

June 22, 2020

It’s awesome seeing more and more girls getting into BMX, and the younger generation is really pushing things in the right direction. Red Bull dropped this new video featuring twin sisters, Lizsurley and Queensaray Villegas, down in Colombia where they are making moves despite not having all the opportunities handed to them. This gives us a look at how they make things work, a look at where they’re living, what their goals and future ambitions are and more. Not only that, but there’s plenty of riding footage in this as well from their local park, trails and ramps they built up. These girls are paving the way for girl riders, and BMX in general, from Colombia!

“Discover how BMX twins Lizsurley and Queensaray prove to be ‘2 in a million’ as they work their way up from local freestylers to olympic hopefuls despite their lack of training infrastructure and resources.

Identical twins, Queensaray and Lizsurley were brought up in the Colombian jungle. Their family never had much but they were instilled with determination and a will to succeed. Their scrappy, make-do attitude has seen them go from flipping their bikes into a homemade rooftop foam pit to having the chance to represent their country and make their community proud as Olympic hopefuls.” – Red Bull

What Does It Take – Danny Macaskill

April 2, 2020

Matthias Dandois teamed up with Red Bull on a new Podcast series called “What Does It Take“. To Kick things off, Matthias sat down with Danny Macaskill to get his story from how he got his Pro career started way back in 2009 on up through what he has going on today. Obviously Danny is a MTB / Trials guy, but we know a ton of BMX guys who are into what he’s doing. Hit play and give this a listen since it’s a good one. Obviously with the two different accents it’s a little tricky at times, but otherwise it’s a real good listen. Check it!

“For the first episode of the What Does It Take podcast, I went to London to meet Danny Macaskill. We sat down to talk about Danny growing up in Scotland, being a bike mechanic, having success from one day to another, trying tricks hundreds of time, having multiple injuries, spending days to film a trick, working on the craziest projects, dealing with fear.

I also spent the day riding and having lots of fun with Danny in London.

A post shared by Lara Lessmann (@lara_lessmann) on Feb 8, 2020 at 6:25am PST

It always seems that we see a bit of sponsor news pop up at Simple Session, which makes plenty of sense with it being early in the year and there being no shortage of cameras around to take in the event. It looks like Lara Lessmann will be bringing her wings with her to the course this weekend because she’s now doing it for Red Bull. We’re pretty sure Lara is the first female freestyle BMX rider to represent Red Bull, which is awesome to see. Lara has been tearing it up for the past few years and we’re sure we’ll see plenty of great riding from her this weekend and into the future! Check out her post on Instagram above where she dropped the news.

Red Bull – Courage Adams: Encouraged

January 24, 2020

This is intense. Red Bull took Courage Adams back to Nigeria where he was born. During the trip, he spent his time riding, meeting the locals, experiencing everything around him and more. Courage calls Madrid, Spain home these days, but going back to see how different the BMX scene is in Nigeria was definitely an eye opening experience. This documentary style video gives us a look at what was going on from start to finish with this trip, along with some riding and perspective. It looks like it was an amazing trip to us. Hit play and check this out! It’s safe to say the scene in Nigeria is growing!

“At age 12 Courage Adams started riding BMX, but by age 16 he’d turned pro, taken the BMX world by storm and made the most of his parents’ bold move. Now, he returns to his roots in Nigeria, discovering new connections amongst a community of like-minded bike lovers.

BMX street is one of the most frequently evolving sports in the world. Fashions come and go as pro riders flit between the contest scene and their latest video release. In Nigeria, things are a bit different.

As it is around the globe, riding bikes can be about breaking down walls and allowing an ever-growing group of riders to connect and feed off each other’s inspirations and influences.

Follow Courage, Starboy, KK Money and S-King as we return to the streets of Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, to illustrate just what a difference riding bikes has made to their lives and what their hopes are for the history of the sport in their town.

BMX on the streets of Lagos seems to be a blend of both old- and new-school influences and looks set to head off in its own unique direction as the riders and scene evolves. We can’t wait to see just what the future brings for BMX in Nigeria.” – Red Bull

Danny MacAskill – Gymnasium

January 7, 2020

We’re always stoked on checking out a new Danny MacAskill video. Despite it not being BMX, there’s a lot of BMX influence in the riding. Red Bull dropped this new video featuring Danny absolutely crushing it in a gymnasium. The tricks he’s doing on the setups are absolutely amazing. There’s also a lot of laughs and easter egg type things in this as well. Check this one out! Although this is awesome, the Going Crazy In A Gymnasium series that Brian Gregor and Rusty Prady did a few years back is still our favorite videos from a gymnasium, haha. Watch Danny MacAskill’s Gymnasium!

“New Year, New Tricks. Scottish Trials Bike legend Danny MacAskill shows us in his new film ‘Gymnasium’ that there are other ways to make your mark in the gym. Not a regular gym-goer by his own admission, YouTube sensation Danny stars in his new film and attempts to show the world that staying in shape doesn’t have to be daunting.

In his latest return to our screens, Danny seeks refuge from the ‘New Year, New Me’ craze by creating his personalised fitness playground in a long forgotten hall at his local sports complex. Even though performing a perfect bar routine while still on two wheels isn’t for everyone, Danny has found that it’s a case of no chain, no gain as he’s able to do what he loves and stay in shape at the same time.” – Red Bull

BTS Photoshoot with Matthias Dandois

December 12, 2019

When a brand like Red Bull wants to do a photoshoot with a guy like Matthias Dandois, you know the photos are going to turn out rad. Here’s a behind the scenes look at a photoshoot Matthias recently did in New York that mixed riding and lifestyle shots. If you are into photography or just want to see what actually goes into a photoshoot for a project like this, this is definitely worth a look!

“In this video, I take you behind the scenes of my latest Red Bull Athlete shoot featuring World Champion BMX rider, Matthias Dandois. I’ll go through exactly what I’m doing for each shot as far as the technical aspects such as lighting, composition and camera settings as well as some other bts skills like working, positioning and communicating with the athlete. HUGE thank you to Red Bull for making this possible and always giving me wing:) I hope you enjoy it!” – VisualRev
