What were you doing in 2002? Ruben Alcantara was jumping on a trampoline answering questions’s and shredding parks, trails and street spots with a ton of style. This section is 8 minutes of pure gold! Sure, maybe I had the exact same Macneil Ruben frame and his signature shoe from Etnies, and really any signature Ruben product around this time… But there is no bias here! Great riding from start to finish! Shout out to Snakebite for uploading this classic.
You know when you hear older BMX riders complaining about how BMX riding is these days and how good it used to be? Well, there’s a lot of reasons for there argument, but one of those reasons is because they had riders like Dom Mach out there absolutely destroying everything in their path. Snakebite uploaded this gem from the Macneil Video that came out way back in 2004 (16 years goes waaaay too fast). This is just over 2 minutes of fast paced Dom Mach footage that is SOOO good. Dom’s arsenal of tricks had air tricks, lip tricks, grinds, big gaps and more that he could unleash on anything he came across. Dom could ride anything in front of him and kept you on your toes with what was coming next! You’ll want to hit play on this BMX video!
It’s always rad to see the older guys who are still out there riding and enjoying their time on their bike. Scott Hagnas celebrated his 53rd birthday by releasing this new edit from some of the flatland sessions he has been getting in as of late. I feel like there’s been more and more riders in the 50+ club as of late, and that kicks a lot of ass. Hit play and let Scott show you how it’s done!
“Scott is a NW legend and just keeps cranking out the hits!” – Snakebite BMX
Snakebite always coming through with the classics. Here’s a gem they pulled out of the archives that’ll definitely make your day. Check out Chase DeHart‘s old Mosh video from 2008. This footage might be 11 years old, but it’s still pure gold. Chase’s style never gets old. If you’re looking for some classic street footage, this is definitely one you won’t want to pass up!
It has been a minute since Shad Johnson has dropped a new Snakebite Podcast, but today he has a banger for you to check out. This time around Shad caught up with KC Badger where they talked about a ton of stories from the past, riding in Arizona and Oregon, riding for Kink and more. KC also talks about his transition to life “after BMX” where he has followed his other interests like fishing. This one is over 2 hours long, but it’s a damn good listen. Hit play and take it all in.
“Mid-shool stalwart and KINK BMX legend KC Badger and I talk about the Arizona scene in the late 90’s, his years on Kink, the Mountain Bike Vs BMX Bike debate, dead bodies at the trails, Fly fishing, and much much more.” – Shad Johnson
Snakebite BMX uploaded another gem from the Dirt Bros. “Cheese” video that came out way back in 1994! This time around we get a look at Manuel De La Cruz‘s section that has a mix of street, park and trails footage. I didn’t personally know much about this guy until I saw the section and got the full scoop from the text that came with the video, and it’s pretty awesome. Manuel was definitely ahead of his time and was definitely crushing it. Check out this video and get psyched!
“Underground San Diego shredder, Manuel De La Cruz, earned national notoriety for being the first documented rider to grind down a legit handrail without brakes and without wearing any pads. At the time, most riders were still used to seeing the pros wear a full face helmet or at least full pads to double-peg a rail. So, when Manuel started bombing huge handrails with out safety gear, it was pretty shocking. While he may have been known for hitting big rails, Manuel also got down on ramps, dirt, and had some impressive flatland moves. I’ve gotten to hang out with Manuel a few times since I moved to San Diego, and have always found him to be a generous, humble, and likeable guy who is still really stoked on BMX. Using “Egypt, Egypt” from the 1984 album On the Nile by Egyptian Lover was a stroke of genius, and helped make Manuel’s section one of the more memorable ones from Cheese. Enjoy!!
