Source BMX – Battle of Hastings 2020 Cancelled
Here’s a bit of news we are actually kind of surprised to hear. Source BMX has decided to make the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Battle of Hastings. As many of you know, Source BMX had made a ton of changes to make it possible to do the event by limiting the number of riders in the contest, eliminating the crowd in the stands, only having riders from the U.K / Europe area and more to help reduce risk of COVID 19 spread. However, things aren’t going as smooth as everyone hoped and more lockdowns are happening, so they’ve decided to postpone until next year. Here’s the official word from Darryl Nau…
“2020 has been a tough year and seen most BMX contests cancelled. In July we announced that Battle Of Hastings would go ahead as an elite European rider only event behind closed doors and a focus on live streams shows. When making this decision we always had In mind that travel Covid-19 restrictions may tighten at any time and we may have to adapt but predicted and hoped that this would not be the case. Sadly it is not as many European countries and UK cities are currently locking down which would mean many riders, sponsors, key staff and more are unable to attend and make the event all that we want it to be.
We take the health and safety of our riders, staff, sponsors and the general public with the utmost importance so this has lead to us cancelling Battle Of Hastings 2020.
Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters for standing by us this year and we look forward to next year when Battle Of Hastings will fall on the weekend on September 9th-12th 2021 and return to celebrate BMX at the fullest.” – Source BMX
Source BMX – BOH 2020 Video Qualifier Results
The 2020 Source BMX Battle of Hastings video qualifier results are in! Here’s a video where Darryl Nau runs through the top 10 videos, along with announcing the overall winner. Unfortunately due to the COVID situation, the original plan can’t be put into place for the qualifier, but at least they will have it dialed in for 2021! Check out the details.
“The time has come for our guy Darryl Nau to announce the Top 10 from our Battle Of Hastings video qualification contest and what a contest it has been!
With unreal submissions from the UK, all over the USA, Japan, Ukraine, Norway and more this contest went beyond what we even envisioned with such a variety of riders throwing down on all kinds of street spots! Shout out to all of them, their filmer’s and more for the hard work and dedication over what has been such a trying time to be out filming in the streets!
When it came to judging, we brought in our 2020 #BOHBMX judges consisting of Ruben Alcantara. Dave Cleworth, Moritz Nussbaumer, Axel Jurgens and Owain Clegg to make the final decision and they all agreed that Michigan, USA’s Grant Ueberroth would be taking the top spot and a trip to Hastings.
Check out full results here: SOURCEBMX.COM/BOH
Due to current Covid-19 travel restrictions, Grant is sadly unable to attend this Septembers event but has automatically qualified for an all expenses trip to Battle Of Hastings 2021. Congratulations from all at Source BMX!” – Source BMX
