X Games 2016 – Girls Session
Although the girls didn’t get the air time like other events at the X Games, it’s not because they weren’t there throwing down. Here’s a video giving you a look at what went down in the Girls Session that went down with some of BMX’s finest ladies out on the course. Plenty of real solid riding to take in here!
“A squad of BMX ladies had a session on the X Games Park course early one morning this year. Despite almost getting rained out every morning they tried to ride, their 9am session was a fun and laid back one—and the earliest both Ryan Fudger and myself had ever been to an X Games. While I’ve known Nina Buitrago since she pretty much started riding, and I’ve had a few sessions with Dani Lightningbolt, it was cool to finally see the likes of Angie Marino, Nikita Ducarroz, Perris Benegas, Minato Oike, Ellie Chew, and Hannah Roberts all ride in person for the first time after watching them in videos. Will we be seeing a girl’s class in an actual X Games soon? Only time will tell, but from the looks of these girls on the course after less than two hours riding it, the future is foretelling…

Over the weekend, two of BMX’s finest were inducted into the BMX Hall of Fame in Chula Vista, California. There’s a photogallery from the event over on the X Games website, along with some interesting facts and words you might not have known about both of them. You can check it all out here — Mirra and McCoy Inducted Into BMX Hall of Fame
Tall Order – Behind The Curtains of the X Games
Just when you thought you saw all the X Games coverage, Bas Keep drops a new webisode on the Tall Order Youtube channel giving you a look at what he got into during his time in Austin, Texas where he was set to commentate for a few of the BMX events. This video takes you behind the scenes, giving you a look at some of the production side of things and a bunch of the riders and people he bumped into along the way!
“In this video – I was stoked and really nervous to get invited to X Games Austin to work on commentary and hosting for BMX park and street. I took the camera behind the scenes in the TV rooms and around the Xgames site . I was busy working but when i finally got the camera out I ended up capturing the Xgames vert battle going on between Jamie Bestwick and Vince Byron with reactions from both of them straight after the contest.
This was my first trip to America since starting ‘tall order”, it was a good chance to give some t-shirts out to friends and also chat to lots of people in the industry about starting my company.”

X Games 2016 – Dave Mirra Best Trick Highlights
After the X Games Park Finals wrapped up, the Dave Mirra Best Trick contest went down and some of the top riders from the finals had the chance to throw down. Here’s a look at the madness that went down, along with the tribute to Dave after things wrapped up!
“After the park event this year, X Games decided to honor the late Dave Mirra the best way they could: Bring his family out, have a moment of silence, and then let eight dudes loose on the course for 15 minutes. Best trick takes all. In the end, Kyle Baldock took the win with a wild 720 double tailwhip, but damn, that 540 triple bar that Varga did was just as crazy in my opinion.
Rest in peace, Dave.”
