Mike “Hucker” Clark and the Wheelie Wrench

July 20, 2017

There’s a handful of BMX Multi-Tools that help keep you rolling during a session without having to lug around a bag full of tools. It looks like Mike “Hucker” Clark has been using a new tool called the Wheelie Wrench from a company called Fix Manufacturing out in California. Below is a short promo video featuring Hucker and Sunny Garcia putting the tool to good use on their bikes, from BMX to road.

The Wheelie Wrench is about the size of a match box and contains a surprising number of tools for its size…
– 2mm thru 6mm hex bits (including 2.5mm)
– T10 and T25 Torx bits
– #2 Phillips screwdriver and slotted screwdriver
– 8mm, 10mm, 15mm, and spoke wrenches
– Tire lever and bottle opener

Sure, it doesn’t have a 17mm socket like some of the other BMX Multi-Tools, but this will get the job done on most of the bolts on your bike and come in handy if your wheels need a quick true or have to swap out a tube quick… or to crack open a beer. The tool is available for $30 on Amazon now.

Shadow Conspiracy – Featherweight In-Mold Helmet

July 20, 2017

Let’s take a closer look at the new Featherweight In-Mold Helmet from The Shadow Conspiracy…

The Shadow Conspiracy Featherweight In-Mold Helmet BMX

Note: This post contains affiliate links and we could receive a commission if you purchase this helmet. We would never tell you about a product we weren’t completely stoked on and actually think is worth you using.

Whether you prefer to wear a helmet or not, you undoubtedly know that having one on when you ride is a good idea. Wearing helmets while riding BMX have always been one of those weird “it’s your choice” things that riders go back and forth with. Whether you want to have something on all the time just incase, or for the times you’re “forced” to wear one during a session at a skatepark, it’s a good idea to have one.

Riders who aren’t big fans of wearing helmets always have reasons for not wearing one. We’ve heard that they don’t look cool, they get too hot, they are uncomfortable and that they’re too heavy in the past. All things we have battled with ourselves over the years, so it isn’t something we don’t understand. But we also know the importance of helmets and with so many Pro riders going down with head injuries the past few years, it’s becoming more and more important that riders are keeping their heads safe. That’s why The Shadow Conspiracy decided to go to the drawing board and take all those complaints and create a helmet that riders would enjoy wearing, or at the very least be able to bear it for the sessions they have to wear one.

The Shadow Conspiracy have just released their new Featheweight In-Mold Helmet that is cool looking, lightweight, comfortable and keeps you cool during a heated session, and it didn’t cut any corners on safety — This helmet meets CPSC and EN 1078 standards.

The Shadow Conspiracy Featherweight In-Mold Helmet BMX

The Featherweight In-Mold helmet starts out with a thinner plastic outer shell with In-Mold technology that uses a custom shape and fit with high density EPS foam that is apart of that outer shell completely, not just a few patches of velcro or glue holding it together so it stays in place. This allows the helmet to have a low profile fit that has that classic look (very similar to the Bucky Lasek Pro-Tec helmet in our opinion) with 10 vented slots to ensure plenty of airflow. If you look closely, those vented holes are the shape of coffins to go along with the Shadow Conspiracy look, which was a nice touch. The helmet is all held in place with a fully adjustable strap that will allow a perfect fit. If you struggle to find a perfect fit, the helmet also comes with two sets of padding to get that custom fit that’s just right for you.

With everything we just talked about above, the helmet’s overall weight was kept down to 273 grams or 9.63 ounces for their Large / XL size. That’s just over a half a pound in weight, which is not a lot; especially when it comes to helmets. That’s nearly half the weight of a ProTec Classic helmet for a comparison. We were blown away when we picked this helmet up for the first time back at Frostbike 2017 because of the surprising weight.

The Shadow Conspiracy Featherweight In-Mold Helmet comes in two sizes; Small / Medium (50-56 cm), Large / Extra Large (58-61cm), colors of matte black and white and a price tag of $69.99 through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry The Shadow Conspiracy worldwide or direct from The Shadow Conspiracy Webstore now!

United BMX – Kids In America

July 20, 2017

United BMX recently sent Sebastian Anton and Tom Deville on their first trip out to the United States where they spent some time exploring street spots around Southern California. As expected, they had an amazing time and it’s clear they had no problem stacking clips! Take a look!

“If you’re from Europe, your first trip to the states is like a right of passage. On of the most exciting experiences you will encounter, all exaggerated by the endless amount of movies and riding videos that we sit in front of at a young age. For United’s Sebastian Anton and Tom Deville’s first trip to the west coast it was much more than your average school trip – when you’re team mates with Nathan Williams and he’s filming his X Games Real BMX section you know it’s going to be push you to get the best clips you can. Sebastian and Tom don’t disappoint in this with an onslaught of new age manoeuvres. ”

First Ever Fakie to Fakie Front Flip – Kody Bricen

July 20, 2017

It’s kind of crazy to think about the level of riding that BMX is on these days. We’re seeing a lot of tricks that people didn’t think were possible and probably never even imagined or considered. Since the freecoaster took over, there’s been a lot of progression being made when it comes to fakie tricks. We’ve seen guys like Pat Casey and Big Boy send fakie to front flips on quaterpipes before, but we’ve never seen somebody send a fakie front flip over a jump, land fakie and pull the roll out. Kody Bricen decided to set up a kind of ghetto pallet resi / spine setup and see if he could send the trick. Here’s a video showing you a few of the attempts and then ultimately landing the trick. Who would have imagined a trick like this would be going down in somebody’s backyard?

“Little ol’ Kody Bricen with his pile of pallets, resi, and imagination has managed to somewhat pull a fakie-to-fakie frontflip. While it’s on resi and the rollout didn’t appear to happen (from the sound of it, at least), he says he’ll get it done for an edit…” – Ride BMX

Scotty Cranmer Day In The Life

July 19, 2017

It’s been an interesting 9 months watching Scotty Cranmer make his recovery from his accident that completely changed his life. Over these 9 months, we’ve seen bits and pieces of what Scotty’s day is like, but most of it is pretty much just short periods of the day and we don’t really get a look at what he goes through every day from morning until night. Today, Scotty posted up this day in the life where he gives you a look at EVERYTHING from waking up and getting his day started to physical therapy to getting food at a restaurant, playing with the dogs and the piano, filming an episode for the channel, dinner, walking the dogs and more. Take a look!

“My life has changed so much since the BMX bicycle accident that paralyzed me. Every day I am faced with challenges some from the simplest daily tasks but I have learned to work through them and do my best to heal and get better so I can get back to my old life. There are so many people that follow my story that are wondering just how I get through my days so I decided to film a Day in the life to show the challenges and the workouts that I take on to get stronger. This has been the hardest part of my life but thanks to everyone’s support I am able to get through this!”
