Monster Energy – Kevin Peraza Is On Fire

January 14, 2016

With a title like that, you better believe this is one of those wild MUST SEE BMX videos! Monster Energy just dropped this banger of a video featuring Kevin Peraza absolutely destroying some of his local skateparks and spots! Stop reading and HIT PLAY!

“While most riders make the move to Southern California, Kevin is happiest at home in Tucson surrounded by family and friends. For the last year he has ridden his local spots, visualizing new lines and tricks on the familiar ramps. When it came time to put it on camera Kevin was unstoppable. Whether it was coming up with a way to create green fire, building a massive wall ride or pulling never been done tricks, when Kevin sets his mind to something he always gets what he wants.

Let’s Talk BMX Shops and the Direct To Consumer War

January 14, 2016

fbm-gypsy-3-bmx-frame-black

Yesterday, Vital BMX released an Harry Main Interview that really fired people up. In fact, FBM and Ride UK have both chimed in on their perspectives on why Harry’s perspective is wrong and the direct to consumer route is not benefitting BMX, at least not in the correct way. I’ve been thinking about the subject quite a bit since I originally read Harry’s responses and I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to chime in. Honestly, going into this blog post I was originally just going to link to FBM and Ride UK and see if we could get any discussion going… Then I decided I might as well point out a few of my thoughts on the value of BMX shops and everything… Then it turned into a big long write up. So, let’s just get into this.

Sneak Peek: Shadow Conspiracy – Contender Tire

January 14, 2016

The Shadow Conspiracy have released another sneak preview of what they will be releasing in their March drop. Above is their new Contender Tire that we got a preview of back in September during Interbike 2015. The Contender tire will be available in two versions; Featherweight and Welterweight. The Featherweight version will feature a folding kevlar bead and a 120 TPI (Threads Per Inch) thread count making for a lighter weight tire that is more ideal for park and dirt riders. The Welterweight features a wire bead and a 60 TPI and is more ideal for street because it has a sturdier construction with the thicker threads. Both tires will feature the same multi-surface tread pattern with deeper grooves and thick lines to provide plenty of traction without sacrificing a smooth rolling tire, a 110 PSI rating and sizes of 2.20″ and 2.30″. No color options have been announced yet, but we would imagine we’ll be seeing a splash of color on these at some point.

The Featherweight version will weigh in at 18 oz. (2.20″) and 20 oz. (2.35″)
The Welterweight version will weigh in at 22 oz. (2.20″) and 24 oz. (2.35″)

Both versions of the tire will be hitting BMX shops and mail-orders that carry The Shadow Conspiracy worldwide in March!

Jack Maddock “Shola” Section

January 14, 2016

Snakebite just dropped Jack Maddock‘s section from the “Shola” DVD that came out back in 2008! This section is packed full of Jack’s buttery smooth style and some serious gaps and drops. What’s even crazier is that he was doing all this with a broken wrist! Wow… Talk about some serious desire to make this section happen and to get it done properly.

“What impressed me most about Jack’s section was the fact that he filmed the entire thing injured, very injured. All those drops and gaps were on his checklist, and regardless of his circumstance he came through and destroyed the streets of Seattle with a broken wrist.” – Bruce Crisman
