Fit Bike Co. had Shawn “Elf” Walters and Matt Beringer sit down and talk about Mike Aitken’s first video part in “The Beginning”…

The 12 days of Mike Aitken continues! This time around Fit Bike Co. had Shawn “Elf” Walters and Matt Beringer to talk a little bit about Mike Aitken’s first video pat in “The Beginning” video that Matt produced back in 2000. Hit play and take it all in!

“Day 2 of ‘Twelve days of Aitken’, which is a retrospective look at Mike Aitken’s BMX career as seen through the eyes of some of those who know him best via a selection of his hugely influential video parts, is Mikey’s section in Matt Beringer’s video “The Beginning.”

“The Beginning” is Mike’s first video section ever (released in 2000, around the same time as Empire East), spanning from when he was 13 (around the time he had those clips in Road Fools 2 at Fuzzy’s backyard) to about 16. It documents the transition from ripping around on a race bike to his Mosh days, and filmed by Matt and Shawn “Elf” Walters (who provide the commentary). Includes his first rail (which is massive for a first rail!), contest footage, baggy pants, and the classic Mikey style in it’s infancy documented while flowing through some of the old trails and indoor skateparks around Salt Lake City, Utah. This was the beginning, literally and figuratively. -RD

Drop The Pin: Demarcus Paul

Demarcus Paul spends some time exploring a random part of San Diego as he drops a pin in his maps app.

Technology has been an amazing thing for BMX. One tool that most people might not consider is just how useful Google Maps can be for finding new spots to ride. Demarcus Paul took on the Drop The Pin challenge from Ride BMX and ended up in a random part of San Diego to see just what it had or street spots. “The first of a new series…Drop The Pin is about simply cruising a random area in search of something outside the norm.

Demarcus blindly dropped a pin on a map of the greater San Diego area and we hit the road, parked, and pedaled ’til the sun went down. For the first attempt at this series, it went oddly well. Demarcus had been to the Banker’s Hill area before (he’s basically been everywhere in SD), but every single spot we rode was something he had never ridden before.” – Ride BMX

Jiri Blabol coming through with the heat for his latest Subrosa Brand video!

The guys over at Subrosa just dropped this new Jiri Blabol video that is too good to miss! Jiri is a grinding machine and he puts all four of his pegs to heavy, heavy use on street spots over in the Czech Republic! This BMX video is packed with some excellent riding and clean film work, making for a great watch from start to finish. Take a look!

The concept is simple, the rider hops on their bike and, without pedaling, they do a trick. This has lead to a TON of crazy clips from flatland tricks to old school tricks and some ridiculous bangers. There’s also plenty of laughs, too. Soooo, I saw Eric Bahlman’s #stilltrickchallenge video and thought it was dope so I reposted it on the Ride Instagram. Then I got an email from Russia with another one that was awesome. Then Larry Edgar texted me his. Then Brad Simms texted me his. And I was like, damn, this whole #stilltrickchallenge thing is really popular…maybe we should do a little compilation video of it? So I clicked through waaaaay too many videos, downloaded at least 50 of ’em, and then sent them to our new contributing editor Tom Perry and he whipped up this outright masterpiece for your viewing please.
