In the last few years of my life I’ve contracted the travel bug. It’s a strong virus with symptoms of vagabond desire, a craving for adventure, and a longing to be well-cultured. For me, the bicycle seems to be the paramount device to assist in spreading this virus, and connecting with other infected individuals. As a proud victim of this infection, I hope to share my stories and experiences in this series, bicycles involved or otherwise. In doing so, perhaps I may be able to achieve the status of a parasite and inspire others to contract the travel bug themselves…

August 10, 2015

shadow-conspiracy-what-could-go-wrong-bmx-video

With fewer and fewer BMX DVD’s being produced every year, it’s getting more and more exciting when an actual BMX video comes out in a hard copy form that you can pop into the DVD player and watch on your TV. What’s even better is when a brand is putting heavy time, energy and resources into producing a video that is worth watching it in that format versus online. Over the course of the past three years, The Shadow Conspiracy team have been busy bouncing around the world stacking clips for their “What Could Go Wrong?” DVD that we have been hearing about since they initially started working on the video. After three years, countless trips and a lot of ups and downs, the video was finally premiered this past weekend in New York City at the House of Vans. Approximately the same time that premiere was going down, we popped open the mailbox to find a copy of the video waiting for us to enjoy. After watching the video, we decided it would be a good idea to get a review out before you drop some money on a copy…

The Art of the BMX Grip

August 5, 2015

odi-longneck

In BMX, there are literally hundreds of options of pretty much any part that you might be looking for. For some people, weight, color, size or just the overall look are the biggest deciding factors for them. One product in particular that comes to mind when thinking about countless options are BMX grips. You would think something as simple as a piece of rubber on your bars to keep your hands in place would be pretty simple and straight forward, but it’s far from that. From length to diameter, pattern, rubber durometer, flange or flangeless and color, the combinations and possibilities are pretty much endless. We were thinking it would be rad to go through a handful of brands and pull out either their most popular, newest or most unique grip and put them all together to really see the differences that there are.
