Munich Mash BMX Street Rink 2015 – Practice Highlights

The Munich Mash BMX Street Rink contest is going down over in Munich, Germany this weekend and some of the best BMX Street riders are there putting the course that was designed by Brian Kachinsky and Jeff Klugiewicz to work! Today was the first day of practice and needless to say, the guys were having no trouble throwing down some amazing riding. Minor Details: BMX Frames

When it comes to BMX frames these days, there are a lot of factors that come down to geometry that can alter the way a BMX bike feels and rides. Want to have more balance on your nose? Get a steeper head tube angle. Want to spin better? Get a higher bottom bracket height. Want to manual better? Get a shorter chain stay length. Need something better for barspins? Get something with a taller standover height. What about tailwhips? Shorter standover heights will make it easier to get over the bike. Now days, a 75-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 8.5″ standover height, 11.5″ bottom bracket height and 13.25″ chain stay length are pretty common geometries you will find on a frame. Sure, there might be a handful of frames that have similar (or the exact same) geometry, but what makes them different than the others? The “minor details” that are added on to a frame to give it an aesthetic touch, add strength or make for a cleaner fit when parts are installed. There are A LOT of frame options these days, so we decided to cruise around a handful of BMX brands websites to check out a few frames that have some details that make it stand out from other frames. Salute to the 4th – Silverlake Contest Flyer

When you want things to change in your scene, sometimes you have to take the reigns and make things happen. For those of you that don’t know, we’re based out of Rochester, Minnesota. It’s not exactly the kind of place you would expect a site like this to be with so much of the BMX industry being in California, but we still make it work. One thing we have always done is worked to be involved with or making events happen up here to help bring the scene together and grow it. Recently, we were asked to work with a local group in the city to help out with a big 4th of July celebration that will feature live music, food and alcohol vendors, a car and motorcycle show and a BMX and skateboard contest. One of main goals of this event was to show the city council that there is a big BMX and skateboard scene to get them to see it’s time to expand the skatepark. Once we heard that, we were all for helping out with the BMX contest.

So, if you’re in the Minnesota area on the 4th of July, swing through Rochester and hit up the Silverlake Skatepark. We’ll be throwing the BMX contest at the park and we have a ton of prizes from our sponsors; The Shadow Conspiracy, Subrosa Brand, Fly Bikes, Profile Racing, Madera, Mutiny Bikes, Kali Protectives, Radio Bikes and Merritt, to giveaway!

Edwin DeLaRosa – Raw Footage From 2000

Here’s a flashback Friday BMX video for you! Our good friend Todd Nichols came across some old footage he filmed of Edwin DeLaRosa back in 2000! This was all filmed at a skatepark, but Edwin goes and drops a couple of crank flips, grinds and even a 540. Man, we wish there was more footage of Edwin floating around these days. Not enough, that’s for sure! Enjoy!

Last weekend the LKXA Extreme Barcelona BMX contest went down over in Spain! There was a massive course that was designed to cater to park riders, street riders and the flatland guys.
