Vince Byron Wins X Games 2019 BMX Vert

Last night the BMX vert finals went down at X Games Minneapolis last night, and as expected there were all of the heavy hitters on the deck ready to drop in and throw down. When the dust settled, Vince Byron ended up taking the top spot with Jamie Bestwick and Mykel Larrin taking 2nd and 3rd place. Dawid Godziek Qualifies First At X Games 2019 BMX Dirt

The X Games have started going off in Minneapolis. Here’s a look at how Dawid Godziek qualified first for BMX finals on Saturday during the BMX Dirt Qualifier. If you want to check out more from the contest, the complete live stream from the event can be found below! It’s safe to say we’ll see plenty more bangers on what looks like a real dialed dirt course. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen anything added beyond some straight jumps and a quarterpipe, so it looks like the guys who ride dirt on the regular are digging this setup more.

What It’s Like To Ride X Games 2019

The 2019 X Games kicked off in Minneapolis last night, and it’s bound to be a couple of days of wild riding going down. When it comes to this contest, it’s not always easy for the average rider to make the trip to check out, and it’s definitely hard to imagine just what it’s like when you’re watching it on TV. Here’s a video that gives you a first person perspective of what it’s like riding the course whether it’s dropping in on the Mega Ramp or catching some laps in the bowl and on the dirt jumps during practice. Obviously the real thing is a whole different thing, and it’s pretty wild to see everything go down in person, but this is still pretty awesome. Take a look!

X Games 2019 – First BMX Street Practice

The X Games are going off in Minneapolis this week and things are already starting to heat up. Here’s a look at what went down during the first BMX street practice where some of the guys were able to get a feel for the setup. It’s safe to say if this kind of riding is going down now, it’s going to be a wild contest. Take a look!

Women & X Games – Live with Nina Buitrago

As many of you may have heard, the X Games wasn’t willing or able to do a Women’s BMX class. Over the past 5 or so years, the Women were able to get sessions on the course or do demos, but they’ve never been given their own actual contest. This year Nina Buitrago and the other ladies decided enough is enough and they weren’t willing to pay their way just to do another demo. The girls have decided to boycott the X Games this year to make their voice heard that they want their own contest. Brant Moore got on a live call with Nina to talk about everything going on, that helps explain how it all got to this point and where she hopes to see things go!

“Nina is an absolute legend in BMX who has shredded for years and earned the respect of the vast majority of BMX.
Recently she brought attention to the fact that Women’s freestyle BMX will be in the Olympics before it will have an official medalled event in X Games. With that, we had an opportunity to talk about her history with X Games as well as the history of women’s BMX with Xgames and her feelings about the whole situation and what it has become within BMX.

Rather than asking the exact same questions that have been beaten into the ground, we dug deeper and responded to a few of the different points brought up by some in hopes that considering both sides of the situation might help the conversation.

Mykel Larrin: Being – X Games 2019

Anyone who has had the chance to cross paths with Mykel Larrin knows that he’s not only one hell of a BMX rider, but he’s also an amazing human that is kind, humble and all in all a lot of fun to be around. Mykel grew up in the Midwest and he definitely hasn’t forgotten what it took to get to where he is today. The X Games dropped this piece where Mykel tells his story from how he got into BMX, getting into contests, making the choice to ride professionally over finishing college, being homeless and more. If you weren’t already a fan of Mykel, you will be after you watch this!

“From humble beginnings in Racine, Wisconsin, BMX rider Mykel Larrin discovered the local skatepark and inadvertently met his mentor, Kuko Padilla. With a new bike, a desire to learn and an eventual dream to turn pro, Mykel Larrin became a super local at the skatepark, learning to ride transitions of all types in the process.

“The skatepark changed the trajectory of my life,” says Larrin. “And the community that existed at the skatepark kept so many kids off the street.”

With his dreams set in motion, Larrin continued to focus on school and BMX riding, traveling to local competitions and demos throughout the Midwest. Eventually, the demanding schedule caught up with Larrin and he was forced to make a choice: continue college or pursue BMX riding.

Larrin chose to put school on hold and pursued BMX riding. Following international trips to do BMX demonstrations for Armed Forces members in the Middle East, and a few choice contest placings, Mykel Larrin was invited to ride X Games. From there, the proverbial sky has been the limit for Larrin.

The qualifier for BMX Park at X Games Minneapolis went down in Boise, Idaho this weekend, and a bunch of the best park riders turned out to throw down! Here’s the full live replay giving you a look at ALL of the action that went down from Marcus Christopher, Brandon Loupos, Jose Torres, Kevin Peraza, Rim Nakamura, Pat Casey, Boyd Hilder, Larry Edgar, Mykel Larrin, Daniel Sandoval, Colton Walker and Ben Wallace!
