Product: SE Bikes X Public Enemy – Big Ripper

June 3, 2016

We have seen a lot of collaborations over the years, most recently the Subrosa X Slayer popped up that caught a lot of peoples interest. Today, SE Bikes announced a collaboration Big Ripper 29″ bike with Public Enemy that is pretty wild, too. Below you can find out a little bit about the bike and the video above, and then below that you can check out a few photos of the bike!

“Yo! Bumrush the Show! SE Bikes has teamed up with Public Enemy to bring to you, the Public Enemy Big Ripper. This is a collaboration bike of epic proportions!
The 29” Public Enemy Big Ripper by SE Bikes features Public Enemy logos throughout, an embroidered target logo on the seat, a Public Enemy number plate, a padset featuring the groups’ greatest hits, and a custom Public Enemy x SE Bikes sticker sheet. The bike is built around the Big Ripper frame design which features SE’s legendary floval tubing and looptail rear end. The monster-sized 29” wheels keep the bike rolling ultra-smooth. This bike will turn heads wherever it rolls. There is no doubt that this bike is louder than a bomb!

The Public Enemy Big Ripper will available in July through any SE Bikes dealer.
MSRP: $749

Morgan Wade On Gas Monkey Energy

June 3, 2016

morgan-wade-gas-monkey-energy

It looks like Morgan Wade will have a little more energy when he’s dropping in on the Mega Ramp this weekend at the X-Games. Morgan has been added to the Gas Monkey Energy team. Gas Monkey Energy? Yeah, the same Gas Monkey as Gas Monkey garage, restaurant, etc. that Richard Rawlings started down in Dallas. Pretty rad to see how much support Morgan gets from Texas based companies. All we know is that it’s some well deserved support since Morgan kicks a ton of ass.

Spotted the news right here.

In The Cut – Vans In Lisbon

June 3, 2016

Here’s a raw cut of some footage from a Vans trip to Lisbon, Portugal that Bruno Hoffmann, Anthony Perrin and Diogo Santos took a little while back. This is a lot of footage of the guys scoping out spots, cruising around and more “lifestyle” style of footage with a few random b-roll clips for good measure. Take a peek!

“A few months back we jumped out to Lisbon, Portugal with Bruno Hoffmann, Anthony Perrin and local Diogo Santos to grab some final clips for the new Vans ‘Illustrated’ video and between shooting for our Photo Journal we kept our cameras rolling off duty. Catch more ‘Illustrated’ sneak peeks in our ‘related’ section below.

Standard Bykes – Custom Dropout Chain Tensioners

June 3, 2016

If you haven’t caught on by now that we’re huge product nerds here at The Union, then you probably haven’t spent much time here on the site. Today while we were cruising around Facebook, going through a lot of junk, random crap we don’t care about and political warfare, we spotted a photo that Standard Bykes posted that really caught our eye. Above is a look at a custom chain tensioner they built on a 125R Cruiser race frame. Although BMX has had a number of different chain tensioners over the years from the bulky attachable washer style to the integrated tensioners on the inside of the dropout to the super clean single screw that runs through the dropouts, this design still looks amazing. We’re not 100% sure on how exactly the design works, but based off the photo it’s safe to say that it’s a three piece system with the plate in the middle, a screw that runs through the plate and dropouts and a barrel adjuster that moves the screw in or out to adjust the plate in the dropout.

Now, this might be a little “overkill” considering how simple a single screw through the dropout is and how well it works, this is still pretty brilliant and all we’re thinking is that we want it. As we mentioned above, this is on a 125R Crusier race frame Standard built for a customer, so we’re not even sure if it would work for a freestyle frame that would be putting far more stress and abuse on the dropouts thanks to pegs and grinding.

What do you think? Are you geeking out like we are right now?

Also, just for example, here’s a look at the single screw design we referenced above…

Tall Order BMX – Foam Pit Superhero

June 3, 2016

During national bring your girlfriend to the session day, the Tall Order crew made a trip to Source Park to spend some time riding the ramps and taking a few dives into the foam pit. Despite the title, there’s really not that much foam pit action, but there’s a good amount of actual riding. Always good to see Bas Keep slaying. Take a peek!

“On bank holiday Monday we hit the Source Park in Hastings to ride the Plaza room, the foam pit and the Bowl room. Jack drove down with Sophie and then absolutely killed the bowl pulling a G-turn to double peg 270! Oli was still tired from running 65 miles from London to Brighton but still killed the foam pit! I even got to ride the bowl for a bit!”
