Building a Mini Ramp From Tree To Transition

May 20, 2017

Now this is an awesome video to start your Saturday morning off with a cup of coffee. Over the years we have seen countless ramps, some crazy as hell and some basic but incredibly fun looking ramps. However, we’re pretty sure we have never seen a ramp that was entirely built from cutting trees down, milling those trees into all the boards needed and then using the wood to build out what appears to be a perfect mini ramp. Jamie Cooper-Ellis put together this awesome video showing us how him, his dad and a few friends managed to build their ramp without having to take a trip to Home Depot to buy the wood. This is really impressive and it looks like the end result was amazing. Take a look!

“This past fall we built ourselves a backyard mini. We started with pine logs milled them into 2×4’s and 2×6’s and then built the ramp using this wood. We did our best to document this project while also doing it, heres what we came up with! Thank you to Dylan Bresnahan Fraser Cooper-Ellis, Noah Hoskins and anyone else who lent a hand!” – Jamie Cooper-Ellis

Inspired By BMX: Ricky Feather – Frame Builder

May 20, 2017

It’s always interesting seeing what Professional riders get into “after BMX”. There’s a lot of talented guys that transition into something that still let’s them have that freedom and creative outlet that we all love. One perfect example would be Ricky Feather, who after his time with United went on to start Feather Cycles where he builds custom frames of all shapes and sizes for customers. Despite seeming like he was a mess at a younger age, he managed to find something that allowed him to do something the demands perfection, and he does it damn well. Here’s his story…

“Welcome to episode 3 of DIG Alumni ‘Inspired by BMX’. This series looks at four creatives whose lives were shaped by being involved at varying levels within the BMX community. BMX not only inspired them artistically, it provided them with a worldview that encouraged risk, made them open to opportunity, and gave them the tools to come up with creative solutions to the problems life threw at them. These episodes are proof that picking up that bike can not only change the direction of your life, but also have an impact well beyond the confines of the BMX world.

Well over a decade ago ago, Ricky Feather was making a name for himself as a progressive street rider, with a sponsorship from United and an ahead-of-its-time part in Attila’s Hit The Switch video (not to mention, for real video nerds, an absolutely killer part in the bonus section of Joe Cox’s Voices DVD, which can be found in the DIG Video Vault. Ricky lived the BMX dream, travelling the world to ride, but came home to Leeds, UK to a ‘real life’ of dead-end factory jobs. Seeking a way out, he taught himself to build bike frames with little formal training but with a perfectionist’s eye. Miraculously, within a short period of time he had built up a two year waiting list and won several awards for his hand crafted road machines. Today he still makes every Feather Cycles frame completely by hand in his workshop in Yorkshire, working closely with the buyer to ensure the bike is built not only to their specifications, but that it will be absolutely the right bike for their needs.

Alumni is DIG BMX production. Directed by Fraser Byrne.” – DIG

Trevor Watring 2017 Video

May 19, 2017

There are a handful of riders out there that when we see they have a new video, we have to almost mentally prepare ourselves for the madness we’re about to see. We have come to know that whenever a new Trevor Watring video surfaces online, we’re going to see some insanely creative, unique and original riding that mixes front brake magic with flatland out on ramps and street spots. Trevor is no stranger to the fufanu and abubaca game, too which is always major bonus points in our book. Get on that play button because this new one kicks a ton of ass!

“Your favorite rider from Ohio is back at it again with a fresh video just in time for summer! Trevor has progressed so much since his last video its truly amazing, his riding is still just as creative and unique as before and this video will get you stoked and inspire you to think outside the box of the cookie cutter trends of today’s bmx scene, enjoy!!” – Ohio Days

2016 Apple Creek Trails Jam

May 19, 2017

Brant Moore just sent through his latest video which is a recap from last years Apple Creek Trails Jam that went down. This gives you a look at all the action that went down throughout the day with plenty of dialed riding mixed in, a good amount of laughs and more “Wooo”‘s than Rick Flair could produce in a given day.

“July 15th is this years jam!!

Last years jam was so insane it had to have been the best one yet!
I’m always super late with these, but that’s only because I like posting them with the following years date to get everyone excited!

A huge shoutout to everyone who had their hands on a camera for this. Matt Poteet, Brenden Wargo, Brian Horecky, Tim Doerfler“
